And so it was.  Fernando will race.  Spain is happy.

Man, this summer break is TOO long!

Does anyone think Button could be rooting for some McLaren wins? At this point McLaren taking wins from Red Bull might be the only way for Button to win the WDC.

Hopefully he's putting his efforts and hopes into a Braun resurgence.  But yeah, that whole team should be hoping that McLaren out develops Red Bull.

Someone posted this video earlier this summer, but I forgot about it until I saw it during Q today.

Here's another one that made me grin!

Good for Rubens!  Was there an on track pass?  I don't recall one.

I think Raikonnen passed Kovalainen on track, but not sure. Could have been in the pits. Does Grosjean passing Badoer count?

I wonder what the real story is behind Ham's bad stop. Did he take them by surprise?

It gets a few comedy points but no, does not count.

I've got to think he came in early and without sufficient notice.

Button let Webber through at one stage.

The official line I heard on Hamilton's tyres was that the McLaren crew have a procedure that means the tyre guys don't bring the tyres out of the garage until they are instructed to do so. When they are in the garage they can't see the car coming along the pit, and they didn't get the call to go out until he was almost in his bay.

If God hadn't meant us to ski, why did He give us mountains, snow and gravity?

Well that should be an improvement.  Hope Liuzzi gets the drive for Force India.

I know it's only practice, but Fisi goes from First to worst as Sutil goes fastest in Force India and Fisi goes slowest in Ferrari. Wouldn't it be ironc if that was the order in the race?

Yeah, I'm really liking this grid. I hope with KERS we can have a McLaren 1-2 by the end of the first lap. Keep those cars out of trouble.

I like the results from today's race. Reubens  deserves his place at the top of the podium!

I really thought the options would go off before the end of the final stint. Was hoping for some on-track passes near the end, Ham vs. But, Sut vs Rai. Good result in the end though. Now it's on to Singapore. Think the Renaults will be there?

Sutil was unlucky not to get past Raikonnen. I don't think Hamilton would have made it past Button - he needed about another 10 laps. I think Button eased up a bit towards the end.

Excellent interview with Ross Brawn on the BBC after the race but before the driver conf. There will be no team rules for the two drivers, he has said they are both mature enough to go out there and race each other, but they aren't stupid enough to try to take the other one out.
So, we could be in for a fight to the end of the season!

I can't wait to see what the judgement against them will be. It pretty much has to exceed the $100 million brought against McLaren.

which, I reckon, would force them out of F1.

Maybe. IMHO if it does force them out, then I'd say the FIA should apply a penalty against other Renault owned teams competing in FIA sanctioned events - such as Citroen WRC team.

I wasn't aware that Renault owned the Citroen WRC team. Renault owns Nissan, but Citroen is part owned by Peugeot.
