Editor backspace functionality

When I quote to do a reply, then highlight some of the non-relevant quoted text and then hit backspace to delete it, the browser goes back instead of deleting it. The delete key works fine, but it's smaller Waaaaaa! Backspace works fine with regular text in the editor.

Windows XP, IE7.

Seems to be browser dependent...

I am also experiencing this.  It seems to only happen when editing a previous post or quote using IE 6 or 7.

I have that plus the "default" for inserting text in the middle of an old sentence seems to be "overwrite", unlike before.  Now I have to hit the insert key in order to insert.  Before that was the default.  IE7,

I have found out more about this. The default for IE6 outside of a text entry window is that backspace is a shortcut for the back page button. If you're typing a reply and then scroll the page to check stuff, the text window loses focus. Even if you have highlighted text and it appears you are intending to delete it with a backspace, because you've lost focus you're going to lose your reply. Not every "return" to the reply window regains focus.
This is very annoying. Smart editors save the work and redisplay it if you forward back to the reply page after this happens.
