advice on twin tips??

Hey, I am a 5'11 (and growing a little more) 150lbs, advanced skier. Right now I have the 2008 Volkl Bridge, they are a great all mountain ski but i want to convert to two skis (park ski and powder ski). Now i just have the money for the park skis. The only thing i want these skis to be is LIGHT!!!!!! Some skis i have looked at are k2 public enemy, volkl dogen, head mojo, and k2 fugative.

If lightweight is key for you, the K2's aren't that.  K2 makes skis that lots of people enjoy skiing but lightweight is not one of their characteristics.  Look at the Salomon Suspect, the Armada t-hall (I don't like Tanner but the skis are nice), the Armada AR6, Dynastar Trouble Makers.

I'd get the Head JO Pro model... because I like the graphic.

Actually, the PE is kind of light -- at least compared to other skis in my quiver.

 

I second the recommendation on the JO Pro graphics, me likey.  It's a pity the ski is not wider! 

I don't have advice, but I do have a pair of 176 Head Mad Trix Mojos with Mojo 15 bindings that I could ship to you for $225.  PM me if that works for you.

Thanks guys for all the tips. But what do you guys think about the Dynaster Nothing But Trouble skis? On the reviews they said they were light weight.

Dynastar NBTs are a little lighter than the Trouble Maker.  I have the TM, and compared the NBT to them, and the NTB are a little lighter, and softer (no titanium sheet, I believe).  I looked into Atomic Twins and they were A LOT lighter than the Dynastars, and a heck of a lot lighter than the K2 PE (very heavy IMO).  Head makes some good twins, and they're on the light side.  hope this helps....

Among other things, yeah!  But if these skis had an ~85mm waist, I probably would have bought a pair for real reasons....

Don't mean to be a thread highjacker but how are the olsen pros at carving? Does the narrow waist make them turn tighter?

 

 

Downhillin99 - this is the ski you want (Jedi hand wave)......once you have it, you won't need the powder boards.

 

 

If by tighter you mean quick edge to edge, yes. Beyond that it comes down to the skis turn radius and how much you can flex them.

 

Oh ya I meant tighter radius, sorry. How are the olsens radius. Also just are they decent at carving or just really a park ski.

Consider the Rossi Scratch FS as well (or Ghetto/Squindo...whatever...).  They're pretty light, and perform well as all-mt too.  I've heard complaints about edge durability though.  Can't comment on that however.

I am an east coast advanced skier who is 5'10 and 160lbs.  I am looking for an all mountain twin tip that is relatively inexpensive and will handle whatever the east coast can throw at them.  I have been looking into skis like the K2 PE and the Dynastar Trouble Makers.  Also, into the scratch FS and scratch ghettos.  If anyone has any input on any of these or any suggestions I am all ears.  Thank you.

For the past few seasons the Trouble Maker has been my go to park ski and all around twin, I can not say enough good thing about this ski.  It has less shape then the PE and and IMO it is one of the most versatile skis within the category.  If you cant find a ski from last season the Dynastar Spin and the LINE Chronic Cryptonite are two awesome skis for the current season.  Either one of these choices would fit perfectly with what you are trying to accomplish.

Thank You very much Sierra_Canuck.  I have found some 2008 or 09 I believe TM limiteds that are supposedly the same exact thing as the regular TM with diferent graphics for $200 that I am seriously considering.

Be careful what binding you put on it too. I have 05/06 Troublemakers with Look P12 jibs. The P12's are pretty stinkin heavy. It definitely makes a difference in things like initiating spins.
