Lola and I discussed this today, she deals with DIN, SAE and other "standards" in her industry and was suprised there were variations in a standardization like DIN.

I also think a lot of people get do not understand what picking a type I II or III skiers means. It actually has little to do with skill level. It is just like it says what "type" skier are you. A type I is a very timid skier that does not push things. A type III skier is a very aggressive and pushing the limits. You can have a beginner skier that is a type III(very rare) they might be an exceptional athlete of other sports and trying skiing for the first time. They know they will really be pushing(forcing the ski to do things) themselves to learn. If you actually read the chart that describes skier type it hardly mentions anything about skill level. It is important that you really look at how you ski and identify yourself correctly.

No one cares that you tele.

I can't remember from my ski mounting days but I know the DIN varies but does the Nm vary also? What is an 8 on a Marker chart is a 7 on a look chart but does the Nm measurements match?

Is it possible that the ski industry has more variables with "standards", which include but are not exclusive to length, TR and DIN, because the manufacturing, design and development is global?
Different countries may have different ideals and liabilities involved when developing their respective "Standard".....
Just a thought coming from my blonde brain.   Not even worth 2 cents.

DIN is supposed to be international.
