Got the movie last week for our off piste group and snuck a look myself, great job, a ski movie with an important, historical and inspiring story line - cool.   Enjoyed very much, still can't believe a ski area actually banned Doug Coombs.   Party is tonight so it is Moosedrool and Swift silent and deep.   Hoorah

Sure to be a famous quote from the movie:

You take someone's 1800 pass away and you see that patroller at the bar that night, its gonna get hectic.
You take his pass and he's 10 beers deep and 5 bongs, he's coming after ya!

Bought it last night from the website and entered the contest also.  There's only 2 areas left in North America that are on my "gotta ski before I die list":  Jackson Hole and W/B.  Hopefully my string of bad luck with lotteries and contests will end with this one.

Ordered the dvd.  Is there any mention of Dan McKay, Bullet Nowakowski, Oly?  On the trailer I see one pic of 3 guys going off what looks like Head Rush, small today but was a big deal to a first-year skier like me.  I haven't been up there on my sitski...yet.

No mention of Dan.  He died well before the JHAF appeared on the scene.

No mention of Stan (The Bullet) Nowakowski as he left JH for Colorado a few years before the Air Force scene got going.  Funny you should mention him, though, as he's back instructing at JH again after many years of absence.  I just spent about 20 minutes talking to him last night.  He's a kick.

Thanks Bob.  There was a tight group who were poaching and dropping cliffs, I saw them a lot but as a new employee I had to be careful and they sure were, not to mention eons beyond my level.  Aside from Andy Chambers, Dan was probably the best downhiller in the valley.  Some friends, ah, "patrolled" the Village road one day while McKay rode atop a car to find his tuck at 90-100mph.  Times were different...  Jake Elkins was an everyday patroller back then, ran our soccer team and helped me figure out the mountain.

I haven't seen Stan since he visited me in the hospital.  I broke my neck on East Gros Ventre Butte, he was there.  Please send him my warm regards, I still don't walk but I hope to ski with him someday.  PM sent.

Yeah - I was very sorry about Dan.  He was a bit of a mentor for me (even though I was a couple years older) in my earliest days at JH.  We skied together a fair bit and I don't know that I've ever known anyone with MORE passion and love for skiing as he had.  Some of his articles in the early Powder magazines are classics.  I remember well that he had a 210cm pair of Miller Soft skis that he loved to race on.  His theory was that a long and wide ski allowed for lots of waxed surface.  It definitely worked for him because he could beat everyone on the hill except Pepi (and Andy).

Andy Chambers is my partner in my little real estate brokerage, by the way.

I don't think so.  I've watched the movie several times and I suspect I'd recognize the "younger" me if I saw me.

Maybe this is a good excuse to watch it again.
