While Vail got 8" today, I only had a couple of hours free to ski this morning, so decided to stay local and hit Loveland with Noodler and dp.  And a great day it turned out to be.  2" reported, skied like more.  Fresh and soft all the way all morning (many untracked), quite a contrast to Keystone on Friday.  No crowds (on Presidents' Day weekend no less).

I've been home for less than 24hrs and I'm already jealous.

Unfortunately Faisasy missed a stash that dp and I happened upon after lunch at Loveland.  This was a powder field that was about boot top with a fine sugary consistency - fairly light.

It was a fantastic day considering we never waited in a line at any chair away from the base, with bright blue skies, and great snow.

Loveland is just an amazing place to ski for Denverites - great snow, great terrain, no crowds.  The only place on the Front Range that still has powder shots days after a storm.  In the case of today there wasn't even any major storm all week - just 1-2" every day that added up to great find today.  I look forward to learning more about Loveland and becoming one of the "locals" that knows the best shots on the mountain and where to ski them.

I skied Loveland a few weeks ago and with only 1.5" reported, it seemed like quite a bit more, especially at the top of chair 9 in the bowls.  Loveland is great (cheap with some great terrain - moguls, steeps, trees), but the chairs are slow and it can be very windy.  I was out there last year and one side of the mountain was just terrible with all the wind.  Anyways, if you have several days out in that area, Loveland is worth a try.

I have got to get to Loveland on our next trip.

Looks like you got your new boots from Jeff B.   Thanks for your company a few wks ago at Vail. While you were at Loveland yesterday a group of us were at Vail weaving between the crowds. The reported 8 inches was conservative.

since I crashed your meeting at Vail, perhaps you can get up to Vail to crash ours (no pun intended- see www.cucrash.com)! I'm not lecturing this year, but I am presenting a research paper on Thursday, so I should be skiing during the day. Let me know if you can make it.
