Most Drool-inducing Road Bike?

That's the wrong color, but I think it's the best one you've posted yet.

I was at Peter Weigle's shop once when he was doing a restoration on a bike that was once Fausto Coppi's. Pretty cool. Funny thing is I was picking up a downhill bike that he had painted for me in bassboat blue. It looked a little out of place in the shop.

How many bikes and pairs of skis do you have?

wouldn't want to race on this one, but a great bike for long tours.

Picked up the frame and fork darn near new for $200 at Second season sports.

Here's my LeMond Buenos Aires.  This is before I added aero bars this year.  I love her so!

That one you don't have to explain to me.....I'd  much rather have more bicycles than any motorcycles.

I'm partial to "stealth" carbon bikes with a bunch of Campy components on 'em, but that's just me.

My 2008 Pedal Force ZX3.

This is a Pedal Force ZX3, in case anybody is curious.

I'm also tailor-fit to a 59cm in a LeMond frame, but I'm not in a position to shop right now.  I owned one of their Reynolds 853 steel frames from 2002 'til 2007, when it broke at the drive-side dropout.  At the time, I was in the midst of gathering the parts for the bike above.  As a stop-gap (and a fun second bike), I bought a 2006 Jamis Eclipse frameset for cheap (somebody bought it for the Campy Centaur group, stripped it, and eBayed the rest - my gain, as it's a nice mix of 853 and carbon) and built it back up with parts from the LeMond:

2006 Jamis Eclipse.

The Jamis' setup has changed a bit since this picture was taken: different saddle, lowered stem to closely mimic the Pedal Force.  The long-cage rear mech alludes to the fact that the LeMond had a triple crankset, while this has a compact double.  Eventually, the rear mech will be upgraded to a short-cage, but it works for now - might as well get some more miles out of it, right?

The Jamis lives at the in-laws' place in Connecticut, and will be the bike I ride in the Harpoon B2B ride.

Are these drool worthy?  Not in the same league as, say, a Storck, Colnago or Moots, but they make me happy - though not as happy as when I'm RIDING!

Nice, I take it that since you are not using a Campy 11 speed crank those are the 10 speed Centaur shifters and derailleurs?  My daughter switched from some 07 Chorus shifters to those this year and absolutely loves them.  She keeps chiding me about riding on those little old fashion shifters.

It's a real mish-mosh of stuff:

- 2007 Chorus shifters (I wanted the ability to upshift multiple gears)

- 2006 Chorus front mech

- 2007 Centaur brakes

- 2008 Centaur rear mech

The crankset is a 2007 SRAM Rival unit, which like a lot of the Campy stuff, was sourced from eBay.  I'm really happy with the SRAM cranks: very stuff and strong.  I've replaced the chainrings with FSA Super Rings, as the original SRAM units wore out quickly (the only real weak point of the SRAM setup).

And the 2009 Centaur shifters simply adopt the new lever and hood/horn shape, while remaining 10-speed.  Campy is moving toward more 11-speed stuff for 2010, with Athena being re-introduced to the lineup.  I've tried the new lever shape, and while I love it, i'm not finding anything wrong with the old-school levers (some of the pros still use the old 10-speed levers, even though Campy is pushing the 11-speed stuff).

Her reason for the strong preference for the new levers is two fold.  She just finds the new hood design more comfortable, but more importantly, at 13 her hands are really small and it is much easier to reach the levers from both the drops and the hoods.  She is much more comfortable now racing in the drops, especially in crits, because she can now brake from there, where with the older style levers she couldn't.

All these photos of Lemonds ... makes me want to post a pic of my "shabby" Victoire

(with stem turned up in "old man early Spring" mode).

It's odd that it's mostly road bikes that makes folks here drool.  What about one of these?  At least it has the same size wheels...

Edit - okay, reread the title ... Duh.

Nice....I'm a Shimano man myself but how do you like the Pedal Force?  I'm riding a 99 Litespeed now and I'd like to try a carbon bike.  I've got the spare parts to build up a frame laying around and this frame builder's prices are attractive especially at group buy prices.....

This is all you need to know - "The biphasic martensitic seamless tubes are manufactured with high quantities of chromium, molybdenum and nickel to enhance its strength and resistance to cracking, especially during welding."

I was just looking at that on Velonews today.  I have always loved Cinelli bikes and that one is especially sweet.  Like any hand made Italian bike, it should have Campy Super Record on it instead of SRAM Red.

Meh.  I think going with SRAM is a very Cinelli move.    Campagnolo don't do BB30.

Now on Mondays.

Wow - in the box, and there aren't even any holes drilled in the stuff (remember that practice?)

Suntour, Simplex ... the bikes you've posted ... you're a true retro-grouch.

Love the Pedal Force: very light, well-tempered handling, and stiff without being punishing (important wen you're 6' 4" and can really lay on the torque).  I bought it during on of their group buys, so it was a very nice price - though I had to wait a spell before I received the frame, as the group buy happened well before delivery due date.

I've also tried one of their newer RS frames from a subsequent group buy, and it is also a lot of fun.  I can't really say anything negative about the Pedal Force company, other than they have no dealer network to speak of.  But they're very responsive to inquiries and support calls, so no worries.

The funny thing is that the XS was a joke when they first showed it (XS = excess, get it), but people kept wanting to write orders for it.

It's either a brilliant combination of materials or a bad idea. I'll never know.

My wish list stops with a superb set of road wheels, this will be a gift to myself when I hit a fitness target I've set.
