Hey, we can't help it if the narrow tired (and narrow minded) have nothing to post.  At least the mtb. crowd is giving us some pics to look at!

I can't say that I made that connection.

Nope I was wondering where his 700C front wheel is.

Holy sh**!  You've got a seat post thing!

I think that was the actual name of that spring.  I forgot I ever had one.

Hite-Rite was the name of the "seat post thing."

I had one on my old MTBs - made on-the-fly adjustment of seat height very simple.

I just can't take my eyes off the Renovo bikes - and if you look at the testing they do, wood sure looks good!

Why not?

I've been kicking the idea of making my own frame for a while, it's been a toss up between wood or carbon fiber. Either way I'll need to wait until next summer when I get my own shop set up, my parent's patience with my projects when i am home has worn quite thin...

Neither wood or CF does a thing for me in a bike frame. Woodworking is another one of my interests, for the last 30 years anyway. But for a bike frame it leaves me cold. There was a guy who rode a wood lugged bike @ D2R2 this year.

That's why they come in all shapes, sizes and materials I guess. So everyone can find something they like.....

I'm just dumbfounded by the thing... I mean, one of my friends makes boats out of some kind of wood laminate, and says it's stronger and lighter than fiberglass(and more cost-effective than CF?)... but I never thought of such a thing for a bike.   Sort of amazing to look at a road bike with such a nice finish(that apparently rides well too).

I also like what this guy does... not a road bike, but the quality of work is amazing and it's made of steel!:

Frames are meh.     Build an AERO  fork with discs and integrated (but replaceable) aero fenders.

Heck, build an aero caliper fork with integrated but replaceable aero fenders and sell it as a winter triathlon trainer -> $$$.

You know what else is kinda nice looking to my eyes?

Italian-look-alike Asian steel frames <cough>Univega</cough> bumped up with modern comps.

Of course, I don't get to talk.   My current project is a city Valuas step-through getting 100% Suntour.

Well, I did it!  (OK, I couldn't afford those Bora wheels, so I used my old Fulcrum Racing 3's, but it still comes in at 16lbs. Campy SR with a Record cassette, Deda Newton stem, Easton EC90 SLX3 bars, Keo carbon Ti pedals. Picked it up and had it fitted on Sunday evening and haven't been able to get out of work early enough for a ride yet.).

Nice dp…but sorry:

Let’s end this thing.

The most drooled over road bicycle…without peer… is the 1963 introduced J-38 Schwinn Stingray along with the following models that included the Krate’s, Grey Ghost, Pea Picker as well as the infamous “ladies” version; Fair Lady.

I would have attached pictures…however, I will not soil the memory of that great bicycle by placing a pic in this thread.   Tens of thousands of kids drooled buckets as they purchased their banana seat bikes in ’63 alone.   And considering Stingray's production through ’74…that was an ocean of drool

Just goes to show you that what is popular ain't necessarily good....

I had a Raleigh Chopper in that era.....they were all crap...Muscle Bikes, what a joke.

I was so happy when I got rid of that and got a Raleigh Gran Prix. You could actually use it to ride somewhere beyond the town line.

There was a school and huge park at the end of our street where I grew up that had a huge gravel parking lot.  My brother and I spent hours riding our Stingrays (OK, we had crappy Murray imitations but we still called them Stingrays) at full blast down our street and slam on the brakes and do slide outs in the gravel parking lot.  I think 40 years later I still have pieces of gravel in my knees and elbows.
