OK, I threw together some of my helmet cam footage from last week and added a soundtrack. Came out pretty good I think:

Very clean Video. What helmet cam did you use? Thanks for the movie/tunes.

It's the VIO POV.1. Totally worth the extra $$ over the cheaper cams in IMO.

Actually half the trick to making it look good on Vimeo is getting the export/compression settings right. Took a lot of experimentation.

Looks great. Care to share the settings you used to save the file before uploading to vimeo?

In iMovie's export (which is the same as Quicktime Pro's export):

H.264 Quicktime (.mov), Best Quality for the video. I tried about a dozen other formats (.avi, etc) and compression methods before finding this combination that gave good quality and acceptable size.

AAC, 44.1kHz, Stereo, 128kbps for the audio.

If I take videos straight from the VIO (avi with Xvid compression) to Vimeo, they look fine as is. It's when editing them that the export settings become important, since that breaks whatever was in the original avi container (unfortunately a direct edit and save of avi is not possible).

Yeah, that's him! I was meeting with him to discuss some collaboration with backcountry.com on their deal sites (Tramdock, SAC, etc). He manages affiliates like me.

Porter took us on a sweet tour through Catherine's area -- the traverse about kicked my butt, but the skiing was a blast. Then he took me on a run through Glory/Keyhole gulches that was intense in a couple spots. I want to re-ski both of those runs next time I am there during a powder dump.
