Outside ski bend & parallel tracks?

Okay a quick, but maybe not so simple question for the Pros. It is a given that balance is directed to the outside ski in order to maintain alignment, bend the outside ski & utilize sidecut & decambering characteristics.

So my question is: If the outside ski bends more than the inside ski in a turn, how is it that the tracks in the snow appear parallel?

Maybe someone with a little physics background can explain this in laymans terms that a simple minded guy like myself can understand. I know the answer is staring me in the face, but I just can't put my finger on it.

Thanks in advance,

JF

4ster, good observation. At low edge angles a little extra inside foot tipping can compensate by putting the inside ski on a slightly higher edge. When that's not done, it's a simple matter of creating some rotational tension in the inside leg, and allowing that to power the inside ski through whatever steering is needed to follow the lead of the carving outside ski. The inside ski steer can be so slight it's hardly noticed in the track.

There's also the concept of diverging the inside ski slightly at the beginning of the turn so it tracks cleanly through the turn at a larger radius shape. There's no single answer here.

Layman enough?

Thanks Rick, I guess you're the only one brave enough to try & answer .

You're welcome, 4ster. Sorry, I have a known history of being a thread killer. I should have waited a spell.
