I little work goes a long way a Stowe TR

skied yesterday day afternoon and today with our own epic. He is a great guide and showed me some really great skiing in and around stowe. We did alot of powder skiing believe it or not. from as little as 3-4 inches to as much to a 12-14 inches of settled powder. Stowe is very big mountain and the out of bounds is even larger. Please do not go out on your own here the chances of getting lost or cliffed out in the trees here is really high.

tuesday afternoon me,epic,whiteroom and a fellow L3 passe lauren went out and skied a sidecountry run called banana.

The final chute on banana needs more snow to be fun, honestly I was tired and this was survival skiing at best for me. the bumps,powder, ice, rock, trees, stumps, waterfalls take thier toll on your skiing quickly. Epic and whiteroom made this look easy.

You end up on route 108, this is what it looks like to skate back to stowe on 108.


the last ride up fourrunner showed promise, snowflakes in the air.



3-4 overnight with temps falling to below zero was what happend that night. some windloading and sunny skis and it was actually quite bearable.

after a couple runs on sunny spruce, the 2nd run on the quad made my nose white time to go inside.

they took us to a us more great snow.

Epic is truly an epic human being and a great skier. Glad you got to taste some of what his mountain can offer!

Glad to see EC stoke on Epic. The UVM crowd on TGR has been stoking us on Stowe for a while now. Makes you appreciate their TRs even more now that you been dere. Back in the day...

Josh, it was really good to meet you in person. Eric is a very good tour guide and certainly fun to ski with... I'm not sure where things stand now, but I heard we may see more of you this season? That would be cool, if true. There is a lot more to this place than you can see in a couple days, I know you wanted to get up onto the chin, that's not even the tip of the iceberg.

From the photos it looks like you guys hit "Stu's"... appropriate for sure. (I meant to track that out on Thursday, but spent too much time off Bypass...)

Do these down jackets make me look fat? It's pretty funny how hot you can get on a sub-zero day. What's not funny is how my knee feels right now. I took a maple to the knee on the last run. I feel like Big Papi took a bat to my knee. It hurt to take me off my sock. That may be a bad sign.

I really need to work on my tree skiing so that I can head into the Stowe backcountry one of these days. The terrain in there looks amazing, even more so then the terrain that's on the map, which is really saying something.

Yep, you can't have a better tour group on Stowe than Epic and Whiteroom. They had me all over the mountain when we broke off from the ESA group. Great guys and certainly some smooth, powerful skiers! Hope to get back up there later in the season with a few peeps. Hope the knee is feeling better, Eric- I'd hate to have you sidelined man, that would be a huge bummer!

Cool report. Stowe looks great, I hope to get there someday soon. Epic, I hope you're not banged up too badly.

The knee is stable when the doc torques on it, and the X-Rays were negative, but I'm scheduled for an MRI. Something is not right in there. Anyway, it was a fun day. Almost worth it.

Nice TR. RISkier and I were up there last week, I'm looking forward to the day when we can ski the stuff you guys skied at Stowe. Mansfield is a great mountain. Epic, it was nice to see you at lunch anyway! And skiing at 10 below is not bad when it's sunny without much wind.

My knees been giving me a little trouble lately.
