Dang, I wish we'd filmed Robin's "Ski Talk" this afternoon. It was both inspirational and perspirational, and ended with us all proclaiming, "I believe!" We have Mosh and Alpinord on tap tomorrow p.m. Try to top that, guys.

We have some great raffle prizes at this ESA, with special thanks to Ragin' Cajun' for the Tag Heuer watch, K2 for a pair of skis of the winner's choice, an all day private with Weems, K2 helmet, Bill Kerig gave us a copy of The Edge of Never, dp donated a vintage ESA pile vest, and dchan a couple of bottles of fine wine...

I had a terrific morning skiing with Charlie MacArthur and his group, MargaritaMarcia, Trekchick, and video guy cgeib among them, skied a run or two this afternoon with Dan Egan, stole one of his students who didn't feel like hiking, and had fun skiing powder bimps and cruisin' the Burn the rest of the afternoon.

I like this thread. A title, with no text, and someone eating popcorn. So come on, where's the entertainment? Perform, someone.

The TRs will come. There's not enough time available to do it justice DURING the experience.

While I'm not at the event I've got to tell everyone that the snow is fantastic. I've seen a bunch of folks around and they look like they're having a blast.

Unbelievably great day at the Highlands today with Dan Egan's group. Bluebird skies, windy on the climb to the Bowl, but otherwise great weather and better snow. Pictures are here:

Weems was able to share the Aspen movie with us that included Wallace prior to his passing. It is an inspiring movie that shows the spirit of this awesome place as well as the tremendous character of those young kids/adults who live and breath this sport and Aspen!

The tribute to Wallace by his peers during this movie is a tremendous testimony to the footprint he has left on this mountain, and in the hearts of those he came in contact with.

Thank you Weems for sharing this with us.

I wish to add my respects and tribute to Weems & Nancy on all their boys' birthday as I suspect it adds to their sense of loss. I met Ben who seems like a stand up young man which I'm sure true of his brothers.

Thank you so much for putting me up and putting up with me. It was very generous and gracious. Also, thanks for keeping Merlin from munching my hand.

Be sure to tell Nancy it was the french toast that powered my butt up to Highland Peak for a memorable run.

Many thanks & Finest Kind!

The snow and the weather can't be beat. No wind the past 2 days. We have skied a ton and everyone is learning a lot and skiing so much better than day 1.

A memorable and fun day.

Thanks for inviting me up, the generous hospitality and allowing me the privilege to spend time with many Bears (including the notorious TrekChick) and coaches at Aspen Highlands. The timing worked out great to be there for a memorable, bluebird Colorado day with fresh snow. My legs are still aching and wish I was still there.

It was truly a special treat to ski with Dan Egan, cgeib, dp, Bob, John & habacomike.

DP skiing the aspens at Aspen Highlands:

A lousy shot of Dan Egan and the ridge to Highland Peak and bowl beyond. It was an absolute treat to watch and ski with this pure and gifted skier and excellent coach. If you want to see how one should be on skis, try and follow this dude at high speed or down anything for that matter.

We opted out of climbing and skiing the Maroon Bells:

Looking down from Highland Peak:

John & DP summiting:

Just a slight breeze on top:

Habacomike at the summit (12,381 ft) with the 'porch swing':

Cgeib & John prepping for the descent. Whereas shortly thereafter, 'Silky Smooth' Chris discovered some of those 'hidden hazards' called rocks below the fresh snow, stopped fast and augerred and knocked out an edge:

Great Day and a pleasuring meeting and skiing with all of you!

That second picture was Trekchick and not me. My first time at epicski and I loved it. Convinced my wife to come and we are having an extremely good time. Everyone was friendly and our coach--Squatty was outstanding. Will post pics when I can get the camera downloaded.

Yeah I took the photo. When I wrote "Whodat?" I was kidding around. I didn't know there was someone named "Whodat."

I also called our awesome videographer "Dan" when I meant Chris. Sorry Chris.

Thank you all for indulging us in seeing this film. It is really nice for us to have an opportunity to represent him and what he stood for.

The film is called the Ripple Effect and it is showing on RSN fairly regularly.

I'm really glad that the ESA group was here in such a wonderful time to share and touch the grace and power of these mountains, and enjoy the amazing skiing.

Thanks for being here!

Take care,

Weems

More stuff from ESA:
One thing that is nice about ESA is that its not just about the coaching,(although the coaching is Epic, to say the least) but its about the whole experience, from meeting amazing people with a similar passion, and embracing the mountain that has invited you to enjoy its glory. With that said........
While at Aspen on Day 3, Charlie took us to see the Jerry Garcia Shrine.
Kinda interesting, eh?

Then to the ski museum.......I have tons of pics of the ski museum but this one with the white "the ski" made me cry.

On the last night, we went to the local haunt to meet up with Wigs for some refreshment. Wigs is a wealth of knowledge for sure. What I'm not sure about is whether or not I want to know all that is in that vault.

Tog challenged me to a game of foosball.......I must bow to his superior talents in this particular game.

Peter was a bit better at challenging Tog than I was.

anyone wanna guess what I'm thinking?

You know there is something to it when Geib gets in on the action.

Just got home last night from Snowmass. This was my first Epicski trip ever and I loved it. I am sure that the other coaches were great but I must mention Squatty. He is the best coach that I have ever had (I have not worked with any epicski coach until now) in the 5 years that I have been skiing and taking lessons. I was likewise impressed with the wealth of knowledge and skills of the other coaches at Snowmass. They are the best of the best. I also want to give thanks to the video guys--David and Chris. Next time video my good turns okay? Thanks Dave for the bottle of wine.

Thanks to all who came to ESA AspenSnowmass 2009. It was an epically awesome 4-5 days skiing in excellent conditions with all of you!

Thanks to our coaches Bob Barnes, Robin Barnes, Dan Egan, Charlie MacArthur, and Squatty Schuler; our leader Weems; video guys CGeib and DChan; presenters Weems, Robin, Alpinord, and Mosh; our helpers Phil, Tricia, and Tog--

But most of all the voracious students who traveled far and whose skiing came so far in one week. Each and every one of you made this ESA an exceptional experience. Thanks, all, for a great week!

Until we meet again--
May the snow yield to your edges,
The sun shine on your back,
Your friends be among you,
And the changes you made last.
