Seeking a Whitefish Report Rain or Snow Today?

Raining at Silver ready to head to Whitefish if they are still getting snow. Let us soggy skiers know if it's worth the drive or we'll stay and ski the ice cube.

I didn't ski today, but the snow report for the mountain said to make sure you wore waterproof clothing and I know that a race coach told one of the kids that it was raining at least on chair 2. The later reports imply that what was coming down was "snow", but sounded more like slush. Here at the house (3650 feet) it was rain. The weather report is calling for 35 degrees tomorrow, with a rapid drop after that. I plan to ski tomorrow, but stick to the groomers, I expect them to be "firm and fast". I would imagine that off piste would be pretty tough to ski, the snow was DEEP, so I would think it'll still be unpacked but very heavy and deep.

Sounds like the only good skiing is Whitewater with 16", Silver closed today. Thanks for the reply.

Got dressed to go, found out my neighbor had slid off our road and was blocking my exit, went back to the PC in the meantime and discovered they are seeing rain up on the mountain, so it sounds like you are making the better choice. I guess I'll postpone until tomorrow (it's nice to be unemployed sometimes).

Spent the day looking at webcams it's just ugly again today Lookout was also closed evidently they can't groom and conditions are bad enough to shut both ski areas down. Schweitzer and Fernie looked a lot like Whitefish today few people and clear percipitation lower on slope and poor visibility with clouds and wind higher up.

On a positive note I can always go tomorrow to ski the ice cube we'll have with the forecast low for tonight.

Skied today. We could SEE! Backside is in wonderful shape, including the trees. Front side it depends on where you are, lower south-facing slopes reminded me of my days at Camelback, but with my years there, it was not an issue.

Silver and Lookout better than expected Friday not the 9" reported at Silver but still had a quite good day. Now it's wait till I'm bored skiing the home hill before I go chasing snow. Keep mixing the snow.
