Hi everyone, I'm Ian and I'm an "adaptive" skier in Portland. I'm originally from Colorado and grew up skiing. I took a hiatus from the sport in college and a few years afterward, but I can finally afford to ski regularly. I took the plunge and bought some skis and a season pass to Mt. Hood - Meadows. I've been up twice this year, and the conditions have been crap, but I'm sure things will improve.

A little more about my disability... I have a birth defect called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, which affects the strength and mobility in my upper extremities. I can't extend my arms beyond 90 degrees, and I have very little strength in my hands.

I don't ski with poles, but I can still straightline groomed runs without too much drama. I'm beginning to enjoy powder, so I'm looking for some fatter/longer skis. My current skis are Salomon StreetRacer 9 Pilot 165cm, which are pieces of crap at speed. (and probably because they're too small for me) I grew up skiing at Winter Park, so 'thanks' to all of the adaptive ski instructors here.

Just wanted to say 'hello!'

Thank you, I'll get in touch with him. I'd like to learn how to safely ski in powder without poles. Maybe he and I can hookup for a quick lesson.
