Maybe, they would have to come from Lib Tech though.

This quote is meesing with my mind this early in the morning...

Let me shoot some e-mails out today to see what I can find. As far as I can think (having never seen the Magna Traction edges) there shouldn't be any more work involved.

I've always wondered, how the heck do you sharpen a wavy edge?

Tuning magnetraction edges

Link to lib tech;

I read it..... but I don't get it. I thought I had heard something to the effect that you did'nt have to sharpen them?

Looks like a shorter file. I guess the corner of the file will be doing most if not all of the cutting in the concave sections.

I imagine those edges are a proprietary design. I'd be surprised if Mervin allowed others to use them.

If they are available, do I want 'em on the skis Kyle is making for me?

YES! Kyle, let me know.

I have had a few come in, and they really aren't that great. Wanna give it a shot Kyle? I'm having a close friend of mine work on them tomorrow in school (making it an assignment for my commercial graphics class, and he is really skilled with CS3 and designing), but have no idea what I'm gonna get.

Well, NO. lol

I have CS2, but that is only by association (old roomate is a web/flash guru). I can do some basic things, and honestly I feel like i got lucky with the graphics I posted above. Graphics work is taking up too much of my time...

I need to apologize to everyone who has been sending me PMs or e-mails. I have had some things in my life that I have had to deal with over the past few weeks and have gotten behind in things a little (but not on existing orders).

Magnatraction: I haven't contacted anyone about this, because I honestly do not expect them to sell me 4 edges at a time. Additionally, in the process of cleaning up and beveling the sidewalls I use the edges as a guide for my cutting tools. If the magnatraction edges are in fact wavy, this shape will be transfered onto the sidewalls.

List Update:

Confirmed/pending Orders*
  1. LeeX-
  2. telerod-
  3. Rise To The Top-
Wait List**

  11. Northwestnumber1
A note about all future orders:

My "pricing" above is to serve as a guideline. Carbon, metal, special base graphics etc. either involve materials that I have to find (and pay more $$ for), substantial work on my part or both. I'll entertain doing just about anything you want, but please don't be shocked if I tell you the ski is going to cost $400 (for example).

Also, I can (but really don't enjoy) doing graphics work. Honestly it ruins the fun of the project for me. Future sublimated topsheets should either be simple designs or done by someone else (check with me for file requirements first).

*Please understand that this list only reflects the sequence in which I received a confirmed order (deposit). I'll be working on the designs and cores pretty much at the same time for all skis. When the time comes to layup the skis (an overnight process), I will go by the list. When the 2nd pair is in the press, I will be cleaning up the first.

**This list is the order in which I received a PM or e-mail expressing interest. The timestamps are for my convenience. If you feel I forgot you let me know and I will check.

krp have you ever seen the post on skibuilders.com about the junk shipping pallet ski build? Also how hard would it be to make the cores visible/how good would it look? Do you bolt the bindings to the skis?

Yes, I've seen "Project Pallet". It's nice to re-use materials, but I'm never going to go through the hassle of that. There are many other ways to get re-claimed and recycled wood.

Cores can be visible, and it is actually very easy. Lower quality epoxies will leave a yellowish hue, and the larger fiberglass fibers might show.

I'm not sure what you mean by "bolt" to the ski. Bindings can be mounted just like regular alpine bindings. I'm going to try some inserts in a pair of tele skis.

that answer my question about fastening bindings. So if and when I decide to get a pair from you would it be cheaper to get the made with core showing with a higher grade epoxy(knowing of course that you will see texture of fiberglass, sweet) or just get a simple cloth graphic layed in? Also approx price for 155-165 length carving skis with 120-66-102 dimensions, and when do you think they would be avaiable, if I were to say put a down payment in say the next month?

Humm,
I was thinking about getting a pair of power skis but this does have me interested. It would be cool to have a custom powder ski. Where does one get more info on these.
