learn2 turn, Its Starr, you pulled off on the toll road at a small parking area right at the top of where Starr, National and Liftline are. I did the same thing this summer also and took a picture. You are right about the Loaf except i don't consider that the back side, one really ends up right on the front of the mountain about the top of King Pine quad if they go straight dwon from this location, backside to me would mean hiking out at the bottom something I haven't done.

Yup, drove up the toll roll and stopped at that little lot at the top of star.
I've only skied the snowfields at loaf a couple times but you can ski the backside and there's a traverse to the right that then brings you right out at the top of Kingpine like you say. It's not a really a hike, it's got just enough pitch to move, less than the spillway xcut but still its mostly a schuss. So I think that shot is just a little bit further around toward the front. The "backside" is called High Rigger on the map and the traverse out is called Hard Tack. There's a couple more routes down between there and the front side.

Very good Tsavo, not a lot to go on, just shape and that one tree, but you got it. I call the picture Buzzard's Alley. Where ssh took us with the OHG once, and my SO had the OMG experience of her life, that Steve wrote about in his book.
Her first time in deep close to bottomless powder, she followed his general line, just trusting she could do it, and when she got to the bottom she was in total amazement and rapture. Steve and I were as thrilled as she was that she had experienced it.
Doesn't look steep in the photo, but as you know the top section is double black.
