I don't know much about this...any other thoughts as to whether this is a good price? 62% off "retail"

I nearly pulled the trigger on this myself....but wasn't sure how wide a ski those vises woud hold. Anybody know?

I've never done my own tuning, so maybe my perspective is off, but it looks like the vices aren't made for holding the entire width of a ski (even a narrow one). To me, it looks like they would hold a ski on edge, so it is thickness that matters...correct me if I am wrong.

Looks that way to me too. I suppose to work on the bases you are just supposed to let the skis rest there....?

FWIW, I own this set and it holds my Dynastar Mythic Riders fine. I'm not at home so I can't really say how wide they go.

These vices will hold a ski on its side for edge work, on you can lay a ski upside down on top of them for waxing.

They do not, however, hold the ski in place while upside down, like this one:

Or these:

which may cause slippage during scrapeage.

Nonetheless, I feel like this is a great deal for these vises since they tend to be rather expensive on their own, and they come with a file and guide. Backcountry outlet offers this kit for 109.17, so the Tramdock deal seems pretty good to me.

I agree! I have been looking for a pair of vices and don't want to pay retail for them, but I want the better product that will actually hold my ski in place so I can scrape it vigorously. This will be a purchase that will last many years, so although I want to get a good deal I'm not going to skimp on the quality.

I missed the deal, so I guess it is moot now, but they might be able to hold the bindings (or brakes) when upside down for waxing??
