Awhile back I read a post about someone doing Crossfit.I have just started this program and all I have to say is wow!

For any of you who have been doing this for sometime I have some questions

Have you been able to stick with the program?
Have you obtained good results?
Have you tried the Paleo/Zone diet?
What are your overall thoughts?

Thanks,
T

Welcome to CF.
3 years and going strong.
Are you training at an affiliate or on your own?
As far as sticking with it, there is nooo way I'd ever go back to BB type isolation lifting or LSD aerobic training.
Zone /paleo for sure ,single digit body fat at 52 yrs.old and lots of energy.
Get to an affiliate if you haven't already. Learn the proper way to lift, and more importantly for the competion & support that you will get.
Good luck with your CrossFitting 3-2-1-GO!

I watched my son go from an overweight pudge to a muscular brute with no more visits to the chiropractor. I'd been ligting weights for 8 years when I couldn't stand the thought of more boring time in the gym. I went for it. My first 6 sessions to learn the movements were with Eva Twardokens. She has been a major inspiration of the benefits of crossfit. After 8 surgeries on her knees, her knees work better than mine. Crossfit builds functional strength which I have discovered is way different than what the machines give you. In spite of all my mtn bike riding and weight lifting I wasn't in very good shape. I also switched to Protein Power diet. That was an even bigger eye opener. I didn't realize how sick I was until I started to heal form diet induced problems. I've lost 45lbs, got rid of of asthma inhalers and other drugs for various ailments. I'm free of prescription drugs. The low fat high carb diet was literally killing me. Crossfit has saved my life. I'll never go back.

Grumpyof,
Congratulations on your success! I too have found that after years of bodybuilding and running I am not in good shape either.

I also have change my diet recently and I am hoping for some good resuts.

I have to say I am very sore and I want to be careful that I don't overdo it too soon. I am sticking to only 3 days a week until I am more conditioned to add more days.

Thanks for sharing!

Jason from Crossfit Albany is looking for 5 days per wk. I am impressed by this method of training. They use Olympic lifting and that is unique and effective. The kips they add to the pull up and the like show confidence in their program. I also like the rings which require stablization, tapping into the core.

As Lobo has said, variation is the way to go.

TCarey, it's ok to scale it back in the beginnning. Anything that helps you stick with the program is good.

I am not able to join at this time, but Abbey his up and running with Crossfit and she likes it.
