Football NCAA and NFL 2008

Well it seems that we're not too far from football again. Training camps and inter team scrimmages are on. Anybody else ready to talk football? I guess I'm through nursing my Sooner wounds from the West Virginia arse whoopin last Fiesta Bowl. I lost a bet:. But as usual OU's favored wo make it to the BCS again this year assuming they can perform up to expectations which they rarely do

It seems that the PTB are trying to revive the Packers-Vikings rivalry of old.

Well, I haven't been around in a while, but I'm ready for some football!

(unless there are some other cubs fans out there who want to wallow in the joy of this season)

Anyone else interested in another Bear Fantasy Season? I got walloped after an AWFUL draft last year -- hard to get an autodraft right, but man, oh man, did my team suck last year... good thing I could pick up AP off of the waiver wire in week2, my #1&#2 RBs were Shaun Alexander and Reggie Bush.

I need to redeem myself.

I've never played in a fantasy league. But, as much time as I spend on Epic, count me in. I'd like to learn how it works.

crgildart, I thought I was the lone Sooner fan in the SE US. Glad to see I am not alone. We are taking my oldest to OU in a couple of weeks for a tour of the honors college and to catch a football game. My hope is she passes on the Ivy league (she wants to go to Columbia) or God forbid USC, her other hot spot, for OU. That way I have an excuse to fly out and watch a couple of games a year..

Cool, my father did his graduate work at USC. They seem to always beat OU. But I did graduate work in the UT system (don't hate me, I still pull for the right team in October). The UT USC Rose Bowl was the last game my father and I saw and discussed before he passed. Sooners look great this year!

That was about the only game of my life where I was tempted to wear burnt orange A game for the ages though and a nice one to be able to share with your dad.

I am really excited about this season also. It is especially fun because Sam Bradford's uncle and father we the same age as my younger brother and I and lived on the next block over from us. We spent our whole childhood hanging out with them every day, so I feel like I know Sam, even though I have never meet him.

Boy, looks like two more very tough games for the Sooners then butter for the rest of the season:
Texas and Kansas will be tough. I'm sure glad they won't see Missouri until the Big 12 Championship.

 Bump for next season headlines.
Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo just broke up  There is a God and he loves the Cowboys again

Are the Vikings really going to pick up Farve?  They had the last "oldest starting QB in the league" with Brad Johnson a few years ago.  I don't know about Farve, but a quarterback is definitely needed up there.

What is the line on Denver this year.  Who did they come up with for a QB?

Hard to get the good stuff on my team from Seahawk country.

How 'bout them Dogs !!!!!

Washington Huskies beat USC 16 -13 in a well played defensive game for the underdoggies

Maybe the corner has been turned for a struggling football program that has suffered greatly since an angry Don James retired to protest his team's treatment by the NCAA in the early 90's

How did your favorite teams do today ?

Denver sure fell off the radar after losing Cutler. I thought he was way over-rated and Denver seems to agree. So why such a decline or is there other factors afoot?

Dismissed?  From the scoreboard I think they weren't even in class. Not Oklahoma's anyway

Florida @LSU.   Cat food or Gator bait ?   This is an easy choice for game of the week and is a big factor in National Championship hopes. LSU can be spoilers big time but aren't expected to be in this one despite a #4 in the nation status. I think the home crowd and night game timing will help LSU and with some good fortune can make this a better game than the pundits claim.

Florida 24  LSU 21  but I'm hoping for the reverse of that.

Lots of folks would like to see a minor upset here.  If Tebow is still a bit shaky it can certainly happen.  This is a game that someone will lose and lots of folks with 1 loss and National Championship hopes are glad to see that another undefeated team will also have one loss after tonight.

No upset by LSU but a fantastic finish by the Washington Huskies to score 15 points in the last three minutes to get the win.

Hey Charles your boys spanked the Baylor Bears. Can't be many Bears in Texas and the Bears are toothless as is usual. A nice ,get better with an easy win , game .

Sorry Charles, the Sooners had a great passing day but still came up short after a typical effort in this huge game for both teams.

On the happier side Idaho beat Hawaii and is now 6-1. That's three years worth of victories for them. It's a cool story lost in all the bigger  stories about all the big boys and their struggles for national prominence.

Tough day, glad I was camping and wasn't watching.  That's three games the Sooners have lost by 5 total points this season.  I know all that matters is who has more and not how many, but it still sucks to come up just a little short.

Happy with the Sooners' victory over Stanford.  Still looking for yet another Big 12 Championship.  But, being an alumn from UTD instead of UTA I won't be devastated if Bama wins.  I have nothing against them.

And if the Tide does roll I can still muster a pretty sincere..

If Texas wins my grad school system has a championship so I'll probably get a t-shirt.  But, I'd always really rather see OU win it all.

I remember one year my Grandmother and I (believe it or not I took my 80 something year old grandmother to the game) were dead on the 50.  I was the last Crimson shirt and everything to the right of me was orange.  That game was a lot of fun in the end because TU was winning most of the game and the fans next to us were particularly obnoxious until we went ahead early in the 4th quarter and ended up kicking their ass.

My cousin was a GM RM and used to get  10-20  first row upper deck dead on 50 seats every year, and at face value ($25.00 until about 97 then $35.00 each). Well, one was on the fifty and the rest of the row down to the left on the OU side/pressbox side of the stadium.  My grandmother, mother, and sister are also OU Alumni.  Now that the CottonBowl is out it is a whole  new era.  It just can't possibly be the same, spending the morning at the fair, meeting up at Big Tex, piling in to the CottonBowl, then singing "POOR TEXANS,  POOR TEXANS.........." as we left victorious out in to the fairgrounds to kill time until hitting Deep Elum or the West End.  Those days are gone forever

Alas, I'm surprised that Texas actually made a game out of the BCS Championship without McCoy.  Part of me wonders if he took a dive.  I'll bet some serious Texas fans and alumni are thinking the same thing.

Congrats top Alabama!  They deserved to win this year
