Any recommendations for a great restaurant for a special occasion meal? In Park City/Deer Valley area?

River Horse, Upstairs on Main Street. Also some of the best music in town for the over 40 crowd in the atrium. My favorite ski town eatery.

For a special occasion, check out the Viking Yurt over at the Canyons. I've been there a couple of times and it was great.

I've had a few nice meals at Zoom and one at the French place (Jean Louis?) around the corner...suggest walking by to see if it is the type of atmosphere you are looking for...

Of all the restaurants I tried in Park City, this one was by far the best....

I'm a big fan of Adolph's. Some of the others may be a bit "fancier" in their aspirations, but I like the food & I like the atmosphere there.

A couple of the places up at Silver Lake do (or at least did last I was there) a nice job & the atmosphere is less frenetic than downtown.

Some good sushi in town too - the Black Dog (I think) out by Prospector, and the Flying Sumo in town itself ...

All of these sound great.

Any hands down specific recommendation for a Valentine's Day dinner on a day that might find the girl getting a ring?

Edit: Has anyone done dinner at the Viking Yurt? Is it worth $300 for two people?

Ha. You mean at a Park City restaurant, on Valentine's Day, or getting engaged period?

Chimayo, Wahso, and Grappa are all owned by the same group, and all are very nice restaurants that maintain good quality.

Riverhorse is very good.

Bistro 412 is less expensive, but some of its dishes are great, and it is a smaller place.

Purple Sage is also good and small and quaint.

Mariposa and Goldener Hirsch are at Deer Valley and are great.

Jean Louis (mentioned above) is ok, but I have always found loud and not great.

Just depends on the type of food you like and the atmosphere you are after. Congratulations. Have fun.

El Chubasco is a great Mexican place. Very reasonably priced and fantastic salsa.

I enjoyed Blind Dog and El Chubasco (salsa bar was awesome). My girlfriend did not ski one day and picked up lunch for the two of us at Blind Dog. We met at the village area of the Canyons for lunch.
