More Retro memories????

Hanson's were the second pair of boots I ever owned. I actually really liked mine, probably because I knew I couldn't afford a different pair.

The last time I went to ski them the whole inside liner disintegrated!

I had a pair of Hanson Avantis with the flo-lite packs. I loved those boots, nice and warm. A buddy of mine had the Spyder version. We skied Tremblant in minus 30, minus 50 with the windchill, he got frostbite, his toenails turned black and fell off. I was fine. I wish I would have kept them. I could've tried to put Intuition liners in them.
At least the Hansons were better than the Scotts. Most of the people I knew who had the Scotts didn't get much skiing done because their boots were always in the shop for a warranty repair for broken buckles or cracked hinges.
I had Spademans mounted K2 710 comps at that time. I loved looking down and not seeing a toe piece. Ah memories.

The next Smash's (along with the Freestyle & Exebition II's) were very sharp looking skis.

I had a pair of Exibitions, but they were red. I broke the spoiler, I don't know how many times the shop kept replacing them. The wax broke down over time turning to chunks and yes you did have to spray silicone in them to get them on. At the time I liked them.

Great Post . Remember all that stuff, like it was yesterday. I want to say the black Roemont boot shown that wasn't their top boot (the top boot in the line was red and blue) sold for a $170 , which was a lot of dough back in the day. I just shipped a guy that posted here a couple of weeks ago a pair of Jetstixs that I had kept for over 35 years. He put them on his Hanson boots.

I had the Hanson Citations in red in 1980. I still remember having to have WD 40 in my boot bag to spray them with so my feet would slide in across the rubber.

Olin Mark IV and Mark IV Comp..Never had them but all my freinds did. "Swivelhips skis", LOL!--but secretly I always wanted a pair because they were considered the coolest skis on the hill back then...

Awesome just awesome, never throw anything away the nostalgia and the memories are the reward. Those skis look in remarkable good shape.

In 1969, Killy signed a deal with Head Ski to endorse a metal and fiberglass ski named for him, the Killy 800. Head manufactured a line of Killy skis for at least two years.

Oh yeah, I remember, (however painfully), these!!!

I had the dubious distinction to be the first in my area to be "waxed". The shop where I did all my buisness convinced me that Hanson was the end-all. The rep used my feet to train the shop employees how to do the wax job.

Man, did these things suck!!! After awhile the wax just ended up breaking down into shards inside the bladder. Basically, feet, socks, bladder with wax rocks and hard plastic. M-mmmm good!

And us older skiers sometimes wish for the "good 'ol days:! You'll never hear me wish for the old equipment to come back!!!

Man, I remember when those K2 KV Comps were the "hot" ski.

I had two pair of Rosemounts in my time. Loved 'em, but they were heavy compared to today's boots. My first pair was all black, The second was a blue shell with a red cover. But, the really cool ones looked like they came out of Easy Rider. The shells were a white and blue swirl and the covers had whites stars on them, circa 1970.

You know what? they ski pretty much just like my daily drivers! (Fischer RC4) Just need a little more ooomph!

One deficiency however. These thin skis have a bit of trouble hooking up when on steep terrain or when cranked over. I lost it twice today due to "boot out" The last time I was moving at a pretty good clip.

Oh well all was forgotten over a Sam Adams on the Timber House Deck! ;-))

The 710 FO was considered quite a radical sidecut in its day. It really gave the Mahres an edge.. :un intended That is, until Alberto Tamba started skiing over gates instead of skiing around them.

Mahres never skied a FO, they were on Vol... er VO Slaloms. The VO, now THAT was a mans ski. The VO Slalom, a 2x4 with edges, the inspiration for I-beams, the ski one person alone couldn't flex.

Owned all three, but in the catagory of my Top 5 skis forever (and wish I still had), the ST650 is very near the top. The first time I got a perfect carve was on that ski at Bershire East in probably 1968-70. I still remember what it felt like, where I was on what trail, and the revelation that - "so, that's how you do it".

Sold them for ST Comps the following year and always wished I hadn't.

Really? Did they have similar graphics-red yellow and orange bands across the tails? Were they skiing on the VOs in 1980-1981? Were the VOs the predecessor to the FO or vice versa. I think the 12s followed the FOs didn't they? But then I was only a teenager back then. My hard drive from those years was somewhat "corrupted" haha.: I'd have to agree that the FOs foam core made them kinda noodley. But that made them pretty good in bumps too so I thought they made a good all around ski that could still hold in gates fine. Honestly the FO was my first SL ski after many different Freestyle skis so I can't say which SL from that era was really better. I do have a pair or 7.9 EPX Carbon. I don't like those much at all. All I can say is that I REALLY liked the 710 FO I'll keep an eye out for an old pair of VOs that someone has kept stashed in a time capsule and decides to put on eBay or Craigslist and get them.

They might have been skiing on skis with 710/710FO graphics, but they were NOT that ski. Most likely VO's.

can't find a photo of the back, but the front sure looks the same as the 710. I'd like to think they had the best racing stock regardless of the graphics. Andybody got any VOs you wanna get rid of?:

I have always liked them. I think it's their "outside the box" thinking that appeals to me.

Back when these first came out they were really "cutting edge", compared to the leather buckle boots of the day.

anyone remember what year Rosemount first came out? 1965 or 1966?

Sweet! Those were days...neon! IIRC, they had neon writing on the bast, near the tip. In the right lighting, the snow in front of the ski would look pink.

I actually owned a pair of Hanson's. The Riva (royal blue/purple) I think. Comfy, but probably the worst performing boots ever made. Then again, they were an overreaction to my previous boots - the most uncomfortable boots ever made - first year on the market Lange's, the one's with the pebbly black surface and strawberry jam that leaked out of the rock hard "flow" liners. Guess I just made bad choices in boots back then...

I skied in Hansen team's Big metal shank up the back and came up damn near to your knees! Nothing like heat molded thermoplastic wax and a neoprene liner!!!!!

And then the next generation Hansen that said slalom on them can't remember the model. They were white!

then I went to : Salomon SX 90-91 & 92 Equipes!!!

Always wanted some Rosemounts!

Before the Hansens I also had Koflach Goldstars and a pair of 6 buckle Humanic Dynafits but I think my first boot was a double lace up Rieker round about 1963 or so!
