Does anyone have information on Fischer Futura Boss skis?  I think they were one of the first 'wide' skis made back in the late '70's or early '80's.  A good friend of mine has my old pair mounted with Salomon 555's.  Wondering if I should get them back and mount new bindings on them for early season powder days?

"wide" is relative...You might be surprised now narrow (by todays standards) that wide ski from the 70's was. Do some measuring and post up a photo.

Ah, yes the one post wonder.
I wonder if he ever got them mounted and skied on them.

What was the first binding brake supplied to >80mm widths?

I had a pair of the Orange Hanson Pro's with the black rubber inner boot and wax liner.  The rear spoiler was the first real high one and had an aluminum bar that came up, was adjustable.  Aluminum slide on the front was hex screw adjustable for flex.  In the 70's I pain over $350 for these!!  Warmest and a very comfortable boot until the wax bladder hardened and cracked LOL

Someday I would like to go spelunking in the black hole!

I have a pretty nice pair of the PRE M6s.  They have always been mine so they are in pretty good shape -- same with my K2 fours.

Hi Folks,

Here is a sad sight

e54676ed_rummage sale 005.jpg

Across the road from the recycling center is the Summit County Senior Rummage Sale. A much prettier sight

I have dibs on the Big Kahunas and The Claws. If you see something you can't live without, PM me. The pre-sale starts at 5:00 pm tomorrow and I plan to be in line at 4:00 pm. My email goes to my cell phone. Send a phone number if you want me to pick up something for you.

This happens every year and I have never paid much notice. The Volant Chubbs and the Wolf powder skis look like they could fit into anyone's quiver. It is amazing the condition and quantity of all this stuff that is probably going to just go to the dump after the sale. Most of the boots are rentals, but there are some rear entry Raichles, too.

Good find Doug - thanks for the call!  Do you have any idea of what kind of prices they usually put on these. I do remember reading about the CLAWS a while back.

I see one or two I could be interested in if they are garage sale cheap.

Doug

I would take the big brother to these if under $20. If you get them I will write you a check and pick them up in a couple weeks? I don't plan to ski them - just for my collection.

I bought these on my honeymoon in 1992 for ten dollars. If you need to contact me tomorrow just call me on my cell again.

thanks!

Atomic was rockin' the wild colors in the late 70s too.  One of my friends had a pair of bright  green Atomic ARCs.  To this day, I don't think I've ever seen another ski close to that color.
I'd rather be skiing

I was looking at those too, but it is hard to tell the condition. Looks like they have no bindings, although it could mean they are unmounted and in mint condition! (but I doubt it).

MWP I'll get the Atomics. I doubt they will be more than a few bucks.

PS, The Zebras, I think were not in great shape, but if they are cheap enough, I'll get those, too. They caught my eye.

Comprex, Viewed video on the Claw. It was from not long ago, but their site clawskis.com isn't responding. Don't know if they are in business or not.

Everyone. I'm going to get in line at about 4:00 pm for a 5:00 pm opening of the pre-sale. Any last requests, just PM me. I'll get your message on my cell phone. If you want to talk to me while I'm perusing, just give me a number and I'll call you and answer any specifics about what you might be interested in. I can send a media message, too, if you want close ups.

I'm charging the camera battery so that we can have better pictures than my cell phone takes. I'm hoping to find some goodies inside where the store the leather stuff. By the looks of the weather all those skis and boots could be getting a good cleaning soon; overcast skis this PM.

I'll report back with prices. For the right price I suppose I could build my own ski shrine like the one in AK!

Heck, if they are only a few bucks I would take a pair of Volants in relatively good shape for my collection!    No problem though if you can't.

I don't have an idea how much skis go for , but I will at 5:00 MT today.

There is a slew of Volants at the sale. 3 pairs chubbs at least. One definitely had that cool black and white striped base. Being steel, they should clean up easily. :-)

Would you prefer a shaped Volant instead?

Can you take a call at 5:05 PM MT? I will grab what I need for myself along with your Atomics then discuss budget, condition and model on the Volants.

Saving skis, one pair (or more if we are lucky!) at a time. Because a ski is a terrible thing to waste.
