Movie "Downhill Racer" 1969

Alright, who remembers when this FIRST came out?
I did see it in 1969, at a Drive Inn movie.

Robert Redford as an arrogant up and coming David Chappellet

Gene Hackman as coach Eugene Claire

One of my favorite scenes is when he goes home to CO after his first year in Europe. He's in the kitchen with his dad. The father asks him what everybody in town always want's to know, "What's he do it for?" There's no money it it.
Redford answers with, "for the fame, to be a Champion"
Father says "World's full of them"

If anyone sees the red and white Tyrolia runaway straps with the press buckle closure, I WANT. Yes, I know the buckles are plastic.

Now on Mondays.

I still have John on the look out for the boot plates, but I wouldn't hold out hope.

Love the slogan on the box.

Rossi CMV Competition

Can anyone put a year on these. I believe they were out around the same time as the FP Competition. Were these just off shoots of the CM's? They look "bump ready!"

Also what model Geze are these? (DIN 3-9)

The CMs I remember looked very similar to those Freestyles. But they had burgandy where the Freestyles are orange. They also had FMs -softer that were blue and grey and EMs -entry level that were red and grey (I thknk?). But they all had the same pattern as the Freestyles. I don't remember anything about that model CMV. Is it definately a bump ski?

Well, that's what I'm trying to find out. They were a "Made in the USA" ski. They have the same slightly turned up, tapered style tail as the Freestyle.

Cool, that is the signature of a freestyle ski. How long are they? I guess the question is are they older than the Freestyle/CM/FM/EM? Maybe we could use carbon 14 to date them

The CMV replaced the short lived CM which replaced the Freestyle. The CMV is from 83 or so, these then replaced by the blue CMV VAS. You will notice the CMV is similar to the FP next to it and the FP was also replaced by the blue FP VAS about the same time.

I liked the yellow Mark V's better than the black ones. Same with the green Mark VI over the two tone ones.

BTW, are you looking for green/silver 7S's?
