MWP,

Let me know if you have the time. There are tons of trails with long and short rides right from the house.

I just watched Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. I thought that was were your signature came from. I was inspired by a Simpsons episode that paid tribute to the movie.

I have always liked that line. Back in the 80s I used that line quite a bit with my ski buddy at the time. Both being from Omaha we would come skiing up to something kind of wicked looking (at least for us), and I would always say "very dangerous - you go first"...

I'm looking for some looks to mount on my "the ski".
Its a more contemporary "the ski" but I'd still like it to have the traditional look

TC.....just avoid any of the plastic variations. Also many of the later metal models will have a DIN to high for you so be sure and look closely. I LOVE Look turntable bindings!

SSL was a buying group and the MERITE was a Special Make Up Ski that was only available at those locations. IIRC, they were  built by a small either Eastern Euro or Japanese builder.

So, how do you get through the lift line and corrals on those?

I'd rather be skiing

That's 14 feet. Wow!

You can buy and ski hand made wooden skis up to 16' modeled after the longboards of the 1800s: www.lightningboards.com/longboards.htm.

I want a pair of the Sondre Nordheim skis with the root bindings. I'd take those for a spin in Horseshoe Bowl.

Here is the current record for longest skis: http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records/sports_and_games/action_sports/longest_skis.aspx

Sadly no photograph at Guinness on the records page. But here is one: http://community.guinnessworldrecords.com/_Longest-skis/blog/499041/7691.html

So Smith and Hunt didn't manage their record, but I admire their effort. Sounds like their skis skied better than the longboards of yore.

"Cruising"  is exactly right.   The 205s felt more like 190s.     ^First pair of skis I skied at Whitetail when it opened in '92.

A pair of these were brought into my shop last year to be mounted. he also had a pair of BRAND NEW in the box pair of Lang XL1000's. HE wanted to mount a pair of Marker M51 sc on them. Unfortunatly, the binding was not indemnified and I wouldn't mount them. He was real pissed at me. I think there is a thread here somewhere where he signed on to Epic asking about getting older bindings mounted.
