Yes, the 194cm ones.

I think I had all of 11 days on them, then switched to Volkl p-series and never looked back.

Higher price for a longer ski, that was an interesting idea, I thought.

Looks like they were pretty pricey for the time they came out. Why the switch?

Those are Canadian dollar prices, so divide by 1.4.   I think I paid less than US$550 with bindings and got a good chunk of tax money back.

I never found a good balance spot on them; the front end was VERY active, the tail craved speed.

I'd love to try a pair. That is radical design.

I didn't try to read the rest of the information in detail; only the 1 page article. Was the binding mounting position radical as well; which is to say. If you put a similar length traditional ski next to it, would the bindings line up?

Binding position and ski -weight- balance was pretty comparable to, oh, a Dynastar G9, to pick an example at not random.

The -edge pressure-  balance didn't feel anything remotely similar.

How bout some hotfingers ads?  I remember getting a long coveted  dark blue pair with white knuckles for Christmas and they got stolen off the lodge table the first day I used them.  It was a very cold Minnesota day so I parked a chair in front of the lodge and waited until I saw a kid coming in with them

A patrol broke it up and I accused the kid of stealing my gloves.  he asked if my name was on them.  I told them I had put cotten in the fingers because they were a little big for me.  At this point we were in the office and they pulled a cottonball out of the glove so I got them back and the other kid and his friend got booted.

Smell that?  Winter's coming!

crgildart - I remember those gloves -- I will scan when I come across.

For now here is a K2 ad for the 255 Soft from SKIING October 1977 -- one of my favorite looking skis.

Not knock offs, note the bases. Notes no brakes or safety straps on the 555E's.

He needs to take better better care of his boots though, where are his priorities.

I loved that generation of Subie wagons, you didn't drive them, you operated them.

I never thought that those were U.S. Ski Teamers in the picture.

The beardless guy is Pete Patterson. Abbie is Abbie Fisher of Center Conway, NH. She was a classmate of mine at Kennett HS. Abbie is still married to Pete, I believe.

think the guy in the beard is Cary Adgate. www.skihall.com/HonoredMember.asp

I've searched for an historic photo of Cary, but couldn't find any. This reminds me that I need to find my folder of stuff from the days (literally) I was on the team. There is a team press hand book which would include a 1978 photo of Cary. I'm hoping to find this stuff in my carriage house in Bartlett, NH when I go on vacation in September.

It has a 30x30 foot room on the ground floor that is clear of any posts or supports, a 30x30 foot room directly above and stables for 3 horses. They following are stored in this 100 year old barn:

21 foot sloop
brother's Correct Craft Martinique
Serro Scotty trailer
Mom's 1954 MG TF
15 - 20 pairs of skis, mostly classics (I'm going to ask my mom to take a few shots to catalog the collection. I want my brother to bring them out when he visits next).
books, paperwork, etc.
Apple ][ plus, Apple //e, Apple ///, Mac 512

We call it the Toy Barn.

Oh, I bought a 78' Subaru Coupe, ultra basic. It's what I learned my sheet metal and bondo skills on. Those freakin' front fenders.

Those were the same gloves in red/orange.  I never got a girl like that while wearing them.  I guess I that's why my parents got me blue.

Smell that?  Winter's coming!
