Sure, they are available on eBay for a few hundred bucks, but then you have to pick up and transport them yourself!  And then find a place to set them up!

Something doesn't compute.  What are you keeping from us?  Are you actually 'collecting' ski tuning machines, or are you just a technical gear freak (i.e. bindings and tuning machines)?.......................... Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I am just looking for clarification here.

We won't tell anyone.

Thanks

LOL, that was actually at my in-laws house in Vermont. and it is two pictures of the same machine.

I just need to find some mini bindings to mount on them (correct era of course!).

Salomon 727 bindings with my first ski brakes

Orange 1973 Lange Banchees, both broken and bolted together with a metal plate

Blue and yellow Swedish Ingemar Stenmark hat. (helmet?? be serious!)

This photo looks like it could be a poster!  Too bad it's not in color.

It could look pretty cool silkscreened in one color on a t-shirt though. Reminds me of some below...

Rossi,

They might consider a swap for some of your de-lams or overstock.

What? No way...Only one pair in the whole bunch with a nasty core shot/edge section missing.

98% are skiable. The original concept was "working collection"

As a recipient of one of his retro offerings, I can say, I doubt Rossi Smash has anything that isn't skiable.

It may be a shrine to some, but if they become delamed and then self-destruct due to UV damage, that is a crime.

They sure went to some effort to build that, well, what ever it is......

So, where exactly is this?  They have clearly put a lot of effort into collecting, and displaying, these skis.  I wonder what his wife thinks?

Oh, yeah, it's Alaska.  She might have built it.

Do you have a higher resolution photo so that we could review all the component skis?
Thanks for posting this.

My mother-in-law said she took it in the Juneau area. She just gave me this print -- click on the image and then go to original image for a larger view. If that isn't enough resolution then I can try to scan again (although the original isn't all that great so I don't know if I would gain much).

She called my wife from Alaska and told her she found a wall of skis that I would really like. I thought it would be a fence of skis or something, but I was really impressed to see this.

Looks like a good spot for a wedding.

You're right though - the elements will really take its toll over time.

If that thing is in the Juneau area UV won't be as big a factor as the rust.

Didn't know Eagle Crest had that many skiers.

We are going to need one of the BIG copters they use for setting the lift towers.

Wait, a minute there are a lot of glaciers around Juneau, maybe we need one with high altitude capabilities and a ski basket.

Oh ya this is a retro thread maybe a Gazelle.  .

Don't worry about the spelling, Pallin probably can not spell either.

Got it, got it, need it, need it, got it, got it, got it, got it, need it, need it need it...

What is the original "Suggested Retail Price" of that wall? I see some real nice (and expensive) bindings there that can still be used. There are a couple of pair of 977E's that still dray some good change. There are the "big boy" versions of Pete's mini skis up there. Some skis that we have commented in the past as being the best graphics of all time, 710 Comps, ST Comps, Atomic ARC's, Some of the greatest skiing skis of their time, Elan RC05, K2 Electra GS and TNC's, Salomon 9200 1S, Rossi 7G's Dynastar Course SL.

Seriously, we would have trouble putting that collection together down here, let alone in Alaska. We need to get the person who put that together to post here on Epic and tell his/her story

The bike trip my mother-in-law took in Alaska is through WomanTours.

www.womantours.com

info@womantours.com

This company would be the starting point I suppose for finding out an exact location of this shrine. I'll shoot them an e-mail and see what they say.

The above shrine is probably Juneau's version of the Mitchell Corn Palace.

While looking for a frame to put my "SKI SHRINE" photo in, I just came across this photo taken about the time I had just learned how to ski in the late 70s. Excuse the low end model Dynastars -- and what am I doing all decked out in ski attire in my Mom and Dad's living room I have no idea!

Here is a bird that would be up to the task!

ea3433d0_llama.JPG

This Llama (or so I was told) was photographed around 1997 from the ridge between Alagna and Gresonnay La Trinite in Italy. The ridge was at 3202 m and the load was half a cord of wood for a 'refugio'; a mountain top inn near the ridge line. It would take wood in and trash out.

You may remember Alagna as the fables 'Valley Y'. It was a cool place to ski.

Any collectors out there have any of these transitional (for lack of a better word) skis between straight and shaped? Even though these aren't retro yet, I think they would be cool for a collection.

I've got a pairs of Dynastar SF's & STc's.  I would consider these the first wave of shaped racing skis.  The SF's are in mint condition.  I had a pair of 197 SF's previous to these which were my first shaped skis I skied them for 3 seasons for just about everything.  They replaced a pair of 206cm G9's. I got these 192 cm's about the same time as the 182 STc's, but only skied on the SF's a few runs.  I ended up loving the Slalom skis & skiing them most of the time.  At the time they seemed awfully short .
