My new skis...

Not sure how many people remember my little Adventure in ski building. Basically, after my first try, I had one good ski and one junk. So I tried again, and with a little bit more knowledge and thought, I did this:

Blue Cheese Specs:

114-75-104, 172
15.7m radius

And just in time too, it is DUMPING right now. The forcast calls for up to 16" tonight, and it started right on schedule at noon. When I moved to cars so we can clean the driveway later, there was already over and inch. A few hours later when I took this pic, there was at least four. This is on top of the 10" from Monday's storm.

Freshies tomorrow!!

I gave them a "rough" tune, I need to get a basegrind. The edges are sharp (not that I'll need them) and there's a few coats of wax on the bases.

lots of fun building stuff. The guys would love to see what you've done!
The graphics are just the usual cotton fabric. I used 3 oz. fiberglass over that.

If anyone wants to read more of the "tech" aspect of these, it's over Here.

Those look too cool for school

I can only imagine the feeling of ripping a run and reflecting on the lift, "I was smokin' on that one, and so were my skis!"

Nice

My dog loves the bumps too.

I want to make my own skis very badly after reading about this and watching some videos. The most confusing part to me is the sidewall...the rest is fairly simply understood....but the two problems are : access to the tools and press and sidewall construction...dying to do this.

I skied Sunday River today, the official number was 13" of fresh, with 32" over the past week. I found enough knee to waist deep to satisfy me for the day!!

Simply put, these skis are sweet. I had brought these and the Metrons, thinking I'd play for a bit and switch to the "real" skis, um, no. I skied this from 9am to 3:30, with less then a half hour break in between.

Nice
I can't even begin to describe what the feeling is like. I took the first run slow to warm up/get a feel for them, and then the second run down I wound up in the middle of a sparsely tracked glade. I had numerous "Aha!" moments today. I ate some snow too, both faceshots and wiping out (double eject . Either later today or tomorrow I will post a more elaborate TR and demo report, I'm beat right now. If I don't, somebody please yell at me...

Anyone want to buy some Metrons?

I think this is made out to be much more complicated then it needs to be. I used wood for simplicity sake, at the end of the day I couldn't see anyplace where I had smacked them together. If you have specific questions, PM me.
