I have a flat wide foot. I had decent luck with Nitro and Vans boots.

With boots, the best thing you can do is go to the store and try several pairs on. Those two would be a good place to start, but in no way a definitive answer. Burton, DC, 32, or some other brand might fit you more better and more comfortably. With snowboard boots you should be able to get a good and comfortable fit.

My feet are a just a little wide according to that foot-measuring gizmo, but I have a "high instep" and the best solution I've found for that is to buy wide shoes. (Just bought a pair of Keen shoes a few weeks ago. They're butt-ugly, but *so* comfortable.)

Salomon (whose boots are generally a little on the narrow side) offers two models of snowboard boots in wide sizes. According to their website, Synapse Wide is a stiffer general-purpose boot and Dialogue Wide is softer, more freestyle-oriented. I just bought a pair of Synapse Wides last night. Fit pretty nice in the store. I special-ordered two sizes through a local store (Ann Arbor, MI) and picked between. In general, nobody around here carries Salomon boots these days, especially not things like wide sizes. Depending on where you are, you might have to special order too. I saw Salomon wides on some of the major online sites.

This is my first venture into specifically wide snowboard boots. I'll report back once the riding season starts for me. (I also bought Flow bindings late last season and only rode in them a couple days. I'm trying to solve (prevent for this season) some foot pain problems I had last year.)

I think foot pain is just part of the game. When I get tired and/or dehydrated it becomes more of a problem. I think my Flow bindings did help with the problem though. The biggest help was getting custom footbeds done. I go much longer before the dreaded foot pain becomes a problem now.

Yeah, I picked up some Superfeet footbeds on your advice last spring and have been using them with my general walking shoes. They've worked out well. Trouble was that my existing snowboard boots didn't have removable footbeds, and trying to add a footbed made them too tight. The new boots I just bought do have a removable footbed, so I'll play around with some off-the-shelf replacements first, before going route of something custom.
