To re-use an excellent thread title by Volantaddict in order to see what everyone's ski tuning room, equipment, vice set up is like.

I am buying tuning equipment and have a complete garage workbench to customize any way I like.

I would love to see pictures of what everyone has as a set up, organization etc...

I have tried looking back 10 pages and found a few pictures here and there but nothing all in one spot.

Common show off what you have.

Pic of Tuning Stuff

Well, no one else has responded so here you go.

The Martin has chrome Grovers tuners and an Intellitouch electronic tuner on it. The mando has Schallers with Pearlized buttons and an Intelli IMT-500 electronic tuner. I highly recommend the Intelli. It's smaller, more accurate, and has a better clamp mechanism than the Intellitouch. It's also cheaper, and it lights which makes it a lot cheaper than the Intellitouch that lights. It can be had online for just over $20 with shipping.

You were talking about ski tuning stuff? Nevermind

you get an "A" for effort but a "F" for context.

I am seriously disappointed in this thread. I really thought people would be eager to show off their tuning dens.

If I manage to get my desk/tuning bench cleaned up, I'll lay all of the stuff out proper and then post it, UP Racer seems to be the man to beat, judging from the pics I've seen of his shop.

The heaviness of the complexity fuels the force behind the dart that hits the mark.

VERY nice!!! I just built a boot spreader similar to that one. It works great for grinding, but I built it primarily for making it easier to mold intuition liners.

Do you find waxing in the house stinks up the whole place?

I guess it would depend on whether or not you find the smell of ski wax offensive.....

I don't mind.

Is it just me, or does the VIST toe look like a transformer

This is a great pic, lots of odds and ends hidden in there, all of which I am sure have a reason and purpose.

What are the long "stone looking" bars that are blue and green, beside the rotobrush standing up ?

Ok, I'll play

Here is my shop... It's not much but it's efficient and it produces OK results.

Cheers !

Very nice !
The ski sticker adorned computer and monitor is a nice touch.
The trail of wax on the carper shows it's used well.
Odd place for the boots, not worried about wax drippings?
I notice you have a close at hand cooling rack. I like this idea
I see yet another Roto brush. hmm this might be an item I want
I like the idea of a strip of velcro to attach the ski straps to

Thanks for playing

Yeah, the PC is there for mp3s and the occasional weather forecast lookup. Sometimes the Swix Wax Wizard is up on that screen as well.

You are correct, this shop does get a bunch of use. Perhaps I should be more diligent in cleaning up the wax . The boots rarely live under there when the season is in full swing; I had them there in an effort to figure out how to mount my hotronics into liners that I pull out twice a day. Any ideas anyone??

The cooling rack is a must have. If I were to do it over again, I'd make it wider so that it could hold 2 pair. I find that if I'm tuning 2 pair of skis and have just waxed the 4th ski, I have nowhere to put it as I retrieve ski #1 to scrape and brush.

The rotos are great, here's how to get 'em for free: When your wife asks you what you want for the winter holidays, refer her to your friend the ski racer, tuning guru (every group of ski buddies has one). Your pal will call you, you say, "roto" and poof - brushes. Just don't give up on your hand brushes - you still need them (mine are hanging above the cooling rack).

That velcro location was attempt #2, the first one was between the vices but got coated in wax by the 2nd week so I had to find another spot. This one works but isn't perfect.

All I need now is a big TV, a fridge and a couch.

this will be hard to beat....

Stainless Steel Checker Plate Hot box. Yummm

Not one but two counters for ski stuff.

Not one but two vice set ups. Nice

Dedicated cubby hole boxes for the ski boots is showing off a bit isn't it.

Well mine is nowhere on par with others but it's a start.

For now I have it set up in my "mission possilbe" room to iron out the kinks and build the table. It will be moved to another location in the house or in the garage (to be wife determined at a later smell).

I bought folding table legs, a table top 36" w X 48" L X 3/4" laminate both sides (easy wax off) and some old scraps of 2 X4 and some rubber matting I had laying around. I cut the 2 X 4 at 2.5" so that all my skis would be just wider than it to ensure the edging tool wouldn't hit it

I then realized I needed something to hold the ski secure. I played around with the idea of making a wooden adjustable boot to snap into the binding but then realized getting it in an out is sure to snag a finger and it would be a pain when doing alot of skis.

So.... I found this chromy eye bolt in the garage and used the idea of the bungie tie down from other threads. I found the bunge doohikey at the local Man-Mart for $2.99 CAN (so $19 US). I realized ahead of time that I would never get the bungie tight enough so I used a long bolt to "suck" down after to ensure the ski was good and snug in place.

the whole set up cost me about $40 CAN. The vise was my first thought when going with the adjustable wooden boot, thankfully it rotates out of the way and I may just leave it there for other uses... or not.

To neat and clean. Where are all the shavings, drips, "extra" parts, rubber bands and other doodads?

PS. LOVE the eyebolt idea!

it's still a virgin for waxing, I have done two sets of skis base and edge's

Seems sturdy enough and the metal shavings etc sweep off the table really easy because of the finish of the table top.

Give me a few weeks it will look a mess by then.
