Pictures of your Mountains

Hello guys, i don't know whether there is a thread like this or not but anyway it would be great to share some pictures of mountains where you ski.

I'm from Georgia ( Republic of Georgia) eastern Europe, we've fantastic caucasian mountains in here, with dozens of ski zones, but unfortunately many of them suffer from unexistance of infrastructure to ski.

but there are couple of super resorts, my favorite one is gudauri, the top station is 3100 meters above sea level , there are not trees at all , total length of skiing road from the top by the end is 8 km ( : ) just little info about gudauri )) the best plays for me on my holidays .

ok some pictures of gudauri ))

Look the clouds are lower than the half of the skiing area ))

The top of the mountain :

On the way to the top station , down shot

And yes, night skiing ! but it is cold ! very cold . Skiing possible only after 200 ml of vodka ))

Hope that u like it , please share your pictures as well and sorry for my horrible english

My mountains, such as they are, are pretty warm due to their pacific NW coastal location. They are also pretty nubbly due to the local predeliction for "regenerative harvesting," which is a queasy, pseudo-green term for clearcut.

But I've been elsewhere, and although I can't really claim any other mountains as my own, I do have an affinity for certain other small-to-medium ranges and peaks in the U.S. Rockies and Intermountain West...places like the Nacimientos, a small, northwest-trending range between the Jemez and the San Juan Basin in New Mexico; the Lukachukais on the Arizona-New Mexico border;

the Little Belts of Montana, which was my first introduction to the western cordillera;

the Latirs in northern NM; the Spanish Peaks in Colorado; the Raft River range in southern Idaho; the Bighorns; the Fortification Range in Nevada; the Tushars in south central Utah;

and Strawberry Mountain in eastern Oregon.

I think my favorite place, though, is in western Utah, a place that represents, in the words of John Hart, sort of a climax of remoteness. There's a little known but simply amazing range of perfectly formed hills, the Ta Tas, which are nestled between the Wah Wahs and the House Range. Unfortunately, the Ta Tas are endangered:

Thanks for sharing Giopailo, wonderful pictures of the mountains and ski area of your country. You are indeed fortunate in having such a wonderful environment to play in. I would also like to commend the responsible and safety conscious way the snowboarder was riding in the clip which you included. As for the "English", not to worry. You have an excellent command of the "Internationale Language" of "yuki (snow in Japanese)".

A warm welcome to our forum and hope you have a chance to visit and ski in our country.

Watch that stuff, it may make you feel the cold less, but it doesn't stop the cold from having adverse effects on you, such as hypothermia. Get a down coat! :

Actually, your english is much better than many Americans, such as BushwackerinPA.

I would indeed have to make a mountain out of a molehill. Photoshop probably isn't that good.

Hi Giopailo:

I don't think that Pierre was implying you were "doctoring" your photos in Photoshop. I believe (I don't want to put any words in his mouth), that like me, although I love my home mole hill and would not let anyone make any insinuations about it, however, my home mole hill is only 600 vertical feet, so even with a wonderful software like Photoshop, I would not be able to make it look even remotely close to your ski area (mountain). That is one the reasons why I did not include any photos. The other reason is that I know many of the other Bears on this forum will be providing you with all the beautiful photos which you could hope for. So, I don't think that Pierre had any intention of implying that you had made your ski area look more impressive by using Photoshop. The way I read his note, he was actually making a compliment of your wonderful ski mountain in the Republic of Georgia (birthplace of Stalin) and not the southern US state of Georgia which is famous for it's peaches, "Gone with the Wind" and for Sherman marching to the Sea.

Think snow,

Here's a couple from lovely Sundance, Utah
P.S.- for other-side-of-the-world Bears: Sundance is a small, family friendly resort owned in part by Robert Redford, the actor/filmaker. He came to Utah in the late sixties and bought thousands of acres on Mt Timpanogas, the highest in the Wasatch front, not quite 12000'. Much of the land has been put into a trust as perpetual wilderness and the resort is run as environmentally friendly as possible, with very little development and low profile buildings made with traditional materials, timber and stone.

Thredbo & Perisher, Australia

There's 2 ski resorts (Perisher Blue & Thredbo) within about a 30 minute drive from where I live in Jindabyne, NSW, Australia. I've worked at both, and skied both a hell of a lot. We don't get the quality or amount of snow that most Nth American or European resorts get and our 'mountains' are really just hills (small vert), but I still love skiing here
