Favorite Bump Run

Hmmmmm. Favorite bump runs... favorite bump runs... favorite bumps runs...

NOPE, can't think of one.

I Ski.

All-Mountain: A common descriptive term for boots or skis that are designed to perform equally poorly under a variety of conditions and over many different types of terrain.

The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it.

Least favorite by contrast are the manmade bumps using the blade of the groomer to create a "Jersey Barrier" like wall, that over times begins to round off. When they are first cut, its like skiing from a protruding wall to the next wall. They might end up evenly spaced after use, but when they are first cut, they are a bi__h! At least for me. I see people skiing them pretty well.

That's how they build comp courses...

Of course, they take a little more time, and it involves a little more after-shoveling. But it's all blade work in the beginning.

You live in the Mad River Valley, right? And not one MRG bump run:

I think that the Chute offers some of the finest lines anywhere.

Bein' the Vail fan that I am, I must add a few:

Prima Cornice
Pronto
Roget's Run
Showboat (skier's left)
Spruce Alley
Look Ma (so much history)
Gandy Dancer (yea, at Vail)
and of course Highline

That said, I'm not really a bump skier, unless they're under powder, but I do speak of these from experience.

mtn

Edit: if you're going to mention Espresso, add Whistle Pig and Zot.

I'm pretty sure I've never been on a "bump run". They seem to attract gapers.

any bumps run thats not rutted. argh I HATE rutted moguls. because usually they are rutted to force you to control speed at the bottom of your turn.

God damn tail pushing zipperliners

MJ: Do or Die Trees to Outhouse to Club Car.
WP: Retta's Run laps for beers at Snoasis.

Pretty much anything on the Jane side counts though.

Taking air on the Kandahar at 100 kph doesn't count?

Now that's a bump. Compression anyone?

With all the bump threads going on now, I thought i'd "bump" this so others can get in their two cents.

I still love the runs I mentioned earlier. But my fave now has to be Golden Spike at Mary Jane. It's kinda hard to get to and most of the peeps that get to it rip it really well. The top section must have a dozen beautiful zipper lines to choose from and the bottom section has a few too. From the end of GS you can cut over and rip the bottom of either Gandy Dancer or Drunken Frenchman:::

My dog loves the bumps too.

Chachi639 had a great list.

West Face / KT22 / Squaw Valley, CA
My favorite (if not icy)

Other good Squaw Valley bump runs
Olympic Lady
Cornice 2 - Horse Trails
Headwall - North Bowl
Exhibition

From my limited experience:
Spencer's to Lower Inferno to Ernie's booboo - Taos
Al's run - Taos
Kant-Mak-M - Telluride

I've skied MJ only one afternoon and loved it, but can't pick one (Outhouse and Drunke Frenchman were fun). I did The Face @ Heavenly with early season snow and it was good, but I'm sure with more coverage it is great. Gunbarrel was closed at that time

Don't seek out bumps much anymore, but used to like runs with some character, not just rectangles under a lift. So:

Goat, Stowe
Psycho, Breck
Exhibition, Sun Valley
Boomerang Woods and Temerity, Aspen Highlands
almost anything at Mad River

I like Lynx at Mad River a lot. And the Canalone di Madesimo, which by now I must have skied more than any other run in the world. It's a mile long, very steep in 2 or 3 places, and usually full-on bumps all the way. Gotta get video up one of these days. Liked the Col des Gentienne at Verbier a lot too. Pallavicini at A-Basin.

I don't want a holiday in the sun

Was going to say Outer Limits, but I actually haven't skied there in about 20 yrs? It used to be like a gigantic parking lot, tip up on a steep angle, and littered with thousands of white Volkswagen Beetles.

Otherwise Starr for me.

I have a new favorite - Misery Whip at Sugarloaf. I could ski that all day, or at least until my legs locked up.

Highline @ Vail with a foot of new snow covering the bumps, because:

*   Consistent pitch (and side to side) throughout most of the run

*   Nice run-in with smaller bumpers to warm up

*   Usually in the sun

*   Deep snow to cushion the blow, make it even harder to be smooth, and for great back-lit photos

*   Boarders and beginners can't easily get to it so its not hacked up

** Most importantly, chair right next to the run so someone can call ski patrol to get the body

So many great ones out there.  Here is my short short list:

Alpintal - International  (especially the Upper part)

Sun Valley - Exhibition

Whitewater BC - Diamond Drill

Alyeska - The Slot

A Basin - Poli when it gets bumped

If there can not be decent loose, let there be bumps.
