Favorite Bump Run

The I hate bumps thread has me thinking that we haven't done this in a while, plus we got a bunch of new people now so, list your favorite three bump runs and where they are. ( I know, I got at least ten)

Whiteout-Steamboat
Drunken Frenchman-Mary Jane
Mustang-Breckenridge

Lone Pine at Mt Norquay in Banff is a beauty.

When the coverage is alright, Exhibition at Lake Louise is also fun.

edit
third: one of the stowe runs listed below. i don't remember a lot of details about stowe, but the front four were fun

I'm glad we get more than one here. Mine are all at Stowe.

Starr
Lookout
National

Each one has it's own charms

Starr tends to have the best snow of the three. Lookout has nice round moguls. National has big moguls.

Gandy Dancer is our family's favorite bump run. Drunken Frenchman right next door is good too. Resolution Bowl is great if there's good snow coverage, but can get nasty if the snow's old or thin.

I actually like Aces & Eights and Gambler in the Vasquez area at Winter Park (mostly a lower intermediate area, so, not many skiers on those runs).

Thunder bumps at JH
Mine Dump at Copper
Plunge and Spiral Stairs to Tride (but the bumps can get hudge)

It is not real steep, but has some knarly irregular bumps at times.

I like Gambler a lot too but my top three

Railbender to Needles Eye - Mary Jane
Spiral Stairs - Telluride
Derailer to Short Haul - Mary Jane

My dog loves the bumps too.

Under chair 3 at Mt. Baldy. Multiple fall lines, snowboarders, trees, weird terrain folds, rocks, air, constantly changing pitches, LA sun, cold beer, Ryan...
Too much fun!

Mrg

The Chute, tight skiable bumps. Steep but not crazy steep. Natural snow. It is a challenging trail IMHO, especially when it's icy firm.

Epic, what about Goat.

Also, Beaver and Slalom Hill at Mad River. The bumps in general are the best at MRG. Paradise has some great bumps with rocks, stumps chutes and ice - sounds terrible but its beautiful.

Haven't been to Stowe to ski the front four but great bump runs.

Jay Peak has Upper Can Am. Power line is fun too.

Killington has some nice easy bumps, the big trails like SuperStar and OL sometimes get VW bumps. I can't spend a day on that kind of terrain.

Over all, the best bump runs for me in the East are the natural snow trails. The snow is better and underneath the snow, the trail is less tamed which makes for more fun. Needles Eye is an example, not that hard but chaotic lines with stumps and rocks and trouble to keep you on your toes.

My favorite at MRG is Catamount Bowl to Lynx To Beaver, I could do laps on that combo till my legs turn to mush.

This is my guilty pleasure bump run, not steep at all, but perfect zipper lines.

Third would have to be whatever on Castlerock that has the best coverage.
Click. Point. Chute.

I'll second Gunbarrel at Heavenly: long, wide, steep, huge bumps. Definately my favorite part of Heavenly.

Al's Run at Taos. Taos has some fantastic skiing so, while Al's rates as one of my favorite bumpers, it doesn't rate as my favorite at Taos.

Rumble at Sugarbush is my all-time favorite run. It does get bumped, but I've never considered it to be a bump run. I think that's because it's so narrow that the choice of lines becomes very limited, especially at certain crux points on the trail.

I've never been a big fan of O.L. at Kton.

I used to like Jet at Jay for bumps, but in recent years it always seems to be groomed so I guess I'll go with Can Am.

I love Goat. Somehow I don't really think of it as a "bumprun" even though it always has bumps.

Anyway, we are supposed to only get three or else I would have mentioned Chinclip and Liftline too. Oops...I just did.

Montana Snowbowl:

Grizzly Chute (This picture doesn't show the typical bumps it sports)

Angel Face

I also really liked Bad Finger at Discovery.

The heaviness of the complexity fuels the force behind the dart that hits the mark.

While I've skied some bump runs I really enjoyed out west, I'll stick closer to home on the (dubious) theory that a "favorite" ought to be something you can do regularly.

Agony at Sunday River. Fairly narrow, reasonably steep, and right under the chair. The only place I've gotten whoops from onlookers. (Of course, it was sort of a cheat since that was back before I wore a helmet and my white hair added to the effect.)

Anything in Castlerock at Sugarbush.

Outer Limits in the early days. It was a very differnt place in the first few years it was open, before they had any equipment that could groom it. Then for a while they were grooming once a week on Sunday nights (discovered the hard way by skiing on Monday). Now they usually don't let the bumps grow to any interesting size.

Cat Dancer, North Peak, Keystone on a sunny spring day. Full disclosure, even though I generally ski the east I've never been to northern VT. This year Stowe and Sugarbush are on the dance card.

To get the all time "Homer" award

Stowe- Seven Springs
Goosebumps- Seven Springs
Avalanche- Seven Springs

This season coming up will be my 27th year letting these three 400 vert ft. bump faces kick my butt most of the time. Ya gota love what's familar and where you spend most of your time. Our best bumpers at the Springs have passes at Winter Park so Mary Jane has to be the real deal. When I go to Vail most of the bumps I ski are Game Creek chair , Look Ma faces, and Zot.

I was wondering if anyone would choose Stein's Run. A fine choice, but I'm not a big fan of double fall lines.
