Outer Limits at Killington, by far the steepest in-bounds run in all of North America.

Nope. Not by a long shot. I can name at least 10 resorts in Utah, Colorado, and California that have steeper inbounds runs.

There's an inbounds hike to spot at Aspen Highlands that's wide and 45 plus.

Maybe not the steepest and widest, but you gotta love the Peruvian Cirque at Snowbird and East Greeley at Alta as two of the best steep wide open mogul free gravity playgrounds on any areas in the US.

What are you some kind of a nut? Everybody knows that the steepest/widest in the Northwestern hemisphere is not Tuckerman's Ravine, and certainly not Outer Limits, but it is in fact the legendary White Heat at Sunday River. And that's a scientific fact.

I don't think so. At its steepest it's about 40-45 degrees, up there on the top third where all the snow slides down and leaves just ice.

Funny you should mention that, you must have ESPN. A lot of the locals do sometimes strap on a small parachute when they ski White Heat just in case they catch an edge. I know out west they also use an old pair of boots with spurs attached to them for the same reason. I think you'd look silly in the east with spurs on though since they're more of a western thing and they wouldn't help you anyhow on something as insanely steep as White Heat. A small Army surplus parachute is the way to go if you are going to head up to Sunday River.

I just go with the retro-rockets. Saves on having to buy lift tickets too.

There is now freaking way to agree upon the steepest in bounds run.

If you're referring to Highland Bowl, there is very little of it thats 45+. Most of its around 40. One of my favorite in bounds places ever, but not 45+.

Pure Les Otten/Sunday River marketing hype from the late 80's..."White Heat is the longest, steepest, widest lift serviced trail in the East"....It's about 36 degrees at the headwall which is all of about 4 turns. It's not even the hardest run at SR.

NOTHING in the East even remotely comes close to Tuckerman's as far as steepest-widest as you're talking up to 55 degrees with exposure.

I wonder how Genghis Khan in Vail compares?

Nothing can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

I really hope you're not serious about any of that. Because if you are you're making all us ECer's look like a bunch of toolsheds. If you aren't serious, you need some serious help with conveying sarcasm.

I got it. Maybe you need some serious tweaking to the sarcasm-o-meter?

Am I detecting some sort of adversarial relationship between east coast man-made-snow skiers and big mountain sky-made-snow skiers?

Is this productive? Perhaps entertaining? :
