I like this ski a lot. It does what I want it to when I want it to do it. I am a level 9 (ski anything FAST) and I am a pretty big guy- 200 lbs, 6'1".

My first time on the ski was hiking back country. For thick fresh powder, the ski is a little slugish, but overall pretty decent. I knew it wouldnt be a great ski for powder before I got it. I think part of this is the sidecut is a little much for powder. If I was going to mostly ski powder with this ski I would want to have gotten the size bigger. I got this ski to take me wherever I want to go on the mountain and be responsive and fast in every day non backcountry conditions. I like the shape of the tips and tails, they are pretty curved up.

Today Wolf Creek Ski Area re-opened just for the day. The coverage of the snow was good but everything was frozen this morning. The ski took everything I could dish out too it. Big long sweeping turns across frozen crusty mogule fields. It cut through the most intense ice-crud as I skied FAST and generally in control (partially thanks to the ski)... Wolf Creek had been closed for 2 weeks so the snow was crusty and frozen. That didn't stop me from enjoying the morning very much and overall I skied way too fast the whole time (good thing there weren't that many people). The nice sharp new edges stayed where I put them. For everything other then deep/thick powder, I like the shape to these skis a lot. At one point, I was pulliing so many "G"s in a turn that the very bottoms of my feet pressed flat was the only thing I could feel in my boots. The transfer edge-to-edge is great. With the simple roll of my ankles I could navigate these skis pretty much wherever I wanted.

Then things got warm and soft. I hit some mogules and was pretty impressed. I was able to turn on a dime whenever I wanted to. Skiing mogules was as simple as an edge transfer. It felt almost as I was snaking my way in the ruts effortlessly. I got going fast and hit air off a mogul and got my skis in the air at about a 45* angel. These skis are stable in the air. They also ski switch (backwards) very nicely, especially considering my old skis were mounted more to the center then these are. They do chatter around at high speeds but if you dont look down at the skis, you dont really notice. I would recoment this ski for anyone who wants a twintip skis they can take all over the mountain and rip through all sorts of conditions. I would not get this ski if you want to ski A LOT of thick deep powder, and there are probably other skis that are better at more spicific things. This ski seems to do well with many different conditions and different skiing but its not extremly good at any one thing. Its just the ski I want right now and I am happy with my ski decesion. Hopefully Head skis are as bombproof as everyone says they are.

maybe it is just because I have not really broken them in yet, but they feel nothing like my old Lines- Now those were wet noodles!!

I think that atleast the 06-07 Mojo 90s are pretty stiff for a twintip.

good review, your findings were exactly the same as my reivew from Feb/March. Great ski for everything but ice and deep or wet pow. Other than that, its a great ski definitely more off-piste or loose snow oriented. I have my SuperShapes for real hardpack days and I am looking for the right pow ski to round out the 3 ski quiver. Now then, Goats.......?

Interesting, sounds in part like the older 04/05 Mojos I got.

Turny ski for sure, although I found the edgehold on steep boilerplates disappointing despite the relatively stiff flex. I even find the new Gotamas to be better at that even though they are 15 mm wider underfoot (which is of course tiring to ski on groomers all day). That may be different now with the new edition, can't tell.

As long as the snow got more sliceable they performed nicely though as said above.

yeah, that edge hold thing is probably do to more harsh sidecut- which is why they are so "turny." on a steep, I could see how that would interfear, but overall, Ill take em on a steep anyway. you cant have everything in one pair of skis.

Jaross, why the interest in the BTs? Are you thinking of dumping the Mojos?

FWIW, I am currently considering some Mojo 90s (and Fischer Atuas and the BTs). Have only demoed the 186 BTs and loved them in 4-12'' fresh on top of very hard snow in the trees, decent in moguls, nice edge hold on softer groomers, but uninspiring on piste overall (lacked a nimble feeling to me).

A guy at the rental shop said the Mojo 90s were stiffer than the BTs, but not as stiff as the Mythic Rider, which I demoed briefly in a 184. Flex of the BTs felt perfect to me in the powder and the extra width (compared to my 75 mm Screams) really inspired confidence off piste. I have been told that the BTs are relatively stiff underfoot and softer in the tip and tail. This makes sense to me.

ME 6' 3'' 190, level 8?

it sounds like you might like the Mojo 90s a bit more. I am not by any means thinking of dumping the mojo 90s. I love them to death. The BT just seems like a very similar ski and I am cuirious...

It sounds like you may like the Mojo 90 more, as I feel that is is nimble, especially for its length. and in the crud it just rips and on the groomers you can definatly carve the ski HARD! It is stiffish and I am not a park guy. I know the BTs are designed to be stiff under foot and soter tip and tail. this is good for pop on jumps, but I like consistancy better. The Mojo 90s could be wider for powder, but then they would not be as good for everything else and while the BT is a bit wider then the MOJOs it does not seem like 3mm would make a differance underfoot. If I was to get pure powder skis, it would not be the Mojo 90s, but they will do if you cannot offord others. I have Atomic Powder Plusses from the 80's for that (125-115-135, 180cm)!!!!!!!

the fischer I do not know anything about. It seems a bit wider overall, but probably not as carvy/turney because of that. maybe just a bit better in powder, but probably trivial. probably not as nymble, but I cant say.
