All-Mountain Ski....Sidecut??

Do most all-mountain ski sidecuts prefer to be more of a slalom radius??
If I want an all mountain ski to prefer a GS turn on groomers, which ski would give me this??

I am leaning towards Elans' Magfire 10, however the numbers being 125-75-109 seems like I may be turning more often than I would like to.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

That is a real nice shape/size for an all mountain ski. If you are west or do most of your skiing west, you might add +5mm to the tips and tails and up to +10mm to the waist.

Thanks Phil.

I ski the East. Will this ski hold an edge on hardpack with a sidecut that deep??

I did the demo thing on the K2 Apache Stryker. Similar to the Elan. I liked the ski. Very solid underfoot. Elan was not at Sugarloaf for demo days. (bummer) Does the Mag 10 ski similar to the Stryker??

As an Eastern skier myself, and one who logged about 20 days on Magfire's last year, I can assure you that the Magfire 10 holds just fine. Elan's and K2's feel very different. I feel that K2s are very damp, while Elan's transmit a lot more snow-feel and energy back to the skier. Elan's give back what you put in; K2s always just feel "dead" to me. Personal preference as to which you like. Depending on how aggressively you ski, they might feel very similair (if you're a laid-back cruising type of skier), or they could be as different as night and day.

The new Elans are kickass skis. The Mag 10 will be fine, even the 12. I have a similier shape on my current skis and they rock on the eastern hardpack and varied snow/ice we get.

Great!!

Kevin, you're giving me the confidence to buy a ski I have not tried.
I would agree the K2 seemed "dead". I am an aggressive skier who loves to carve. I like snow feel and energy, though I am not a reviewer. Currently on Fischers (talk about energy!!)

Phil, thanks again. These 2 or 3 posts are pointing me in the direction I want to go. Plus, I love the graphics on the Mag 10!!

I will pass this onto my G/F and they will be under the tree Dec. 25th!!

The only problem with Elan's is trying to find them for sale. Do you have a dealer near you? There's ski-depot that apparently still has the Mag10 in stock if you can't find it locally. Great shop to do business with.

The magfire 10 has more of a slalom than GS sidecut to it (13.3 at 168). The Rippstick has a bit longer radius (15.4 at 170), and the Magfire 12 is 16.1 at 168. It ain't easy finding a GS-sized turn radius in something that's not wider or a race ski. You might be able to find some old Volants though

Kevin, you're right. The Ski Depot is a great shop. That's where we will get the ski. Their new shop is 20 minutes down the road from where we live. I bought my Fischers there about 4 years ago. Nice guys and they know their stuff.
Thanks for your help.
How about a day at Sugarloaf or Sunday River this winter??

Ghost.... I will be getting the 176cm. I think it has a 14.9 radius. That's a good turn for me.
