What are you drinking, right now?

As good as that looks I cant stand rootbeer.   I remember when I was a kid and after trick-or-treating most kids that I knew threw out all the rootbeer candy or handed it off to thier parents (old folk seem to love it).   Funny thing is though recently I tried a piece of RB candy and I actually liked it....guess I am getting old.

Went down to pick up the pizza at a local tavern with lots of beers on tap (sure glad their pizza is good too),  Tried to diversify with a Black Star, no go ,  Went international with Kookaney , ran  into a friend bought him one too (bad to drink alone).  Daisy dog got ice cream, she LIKES that tavern.

I love margaritas. Rocks, no salt and a shot on the side of some Anejo.

My Marg recipe:

in a shaker:
  • ice
  • 4 parts Sauza Gold
  • 1 part Grand Marnier
  • 1 part ginger lime simple syrup
  • add fruit juice to acheive desired strength of cocktail (I like Kern's guava, mango or peach)
  • shake, strain into chilled glass, garnish with lime

Ginger Lime Simple Syrup:

4 oz ginger, peeled & sliced

1 c fresh squeezed lime juice

1 c sugar

Boil 2 minutes, cool, puree in blender, strain, pressing on ginger to extract syrup.  It's that easy.

Will keep for a week or two in the refrigerator; freezes well.

That's what MR and K like.

Not now, though. It's 11:00 AM MT

Back on the shelves. Yum, I'd forgotten how good it is.

Ice Water -- I have a 64 ounce giant mug I use at work. I drink the entire amount while working on my computer every day. The added bonus is I get a little extra workout having to get up about every hour to visit the men's room!

Believe it or not, water.
From a 1969 model (that's the date at the bottom, but I hope it was not the build date, rather the "commission" date) U.S. Army surplus plastic canteen (1 litre) that I've had with me since the '80s...
Don't ask me why, I don't know either.
Somewhere in the basement I have a WW II tin canteen (again from U.S. army surplus) but I don't dare to use it.

Redstone Meadery - Sunshine Nectar

(fresh from a quick drive over to Boulder last week.  I highly recommend the tour and the tasting room.  I somehow ended up eating lunch over at Boulder Brewery the same day.)

I teach snowboarding and pegger ski biking at Winter Park Resort.
What's pegger ski biking?  Glad you asked!

If I make it I will certainly bring some!!  I have a batch of 10.5% Full Figured Holiday Stout sitting in a keg in my basement that was brewed in June and should be nicely mellowed and ready to drink around mid-December, that could be fun!!  I'm actually right in the middle of brewing a Porter right now, and am drinking more of the brown and some really good, hoppy IPA I made a month or so ago!

Second test bottle of a English style red ale. Bittering, flavor and aroma hops were all New Zeland golding.  3/4 pound of 50% crystal malt gave me the delightful dark red color I was hoping for in this batch of extract beer. A little cara-munich for fresh malt taste and a few pounds of Maris-otter two row barley to avoid 'extract twang'. Perfect! A delight to the eye, nose and palete. At just over 6% not too heavy to have a couple and after one i want another.
