Please add me to that list as well. I'm about two hours south of Alpine Valley and I'd love to make demo day as well as meet other guys from the forum!

If we all get together we can plan one every month. we need to get the southern Wisconsin group involved also. SLATZ!

SLATZ - Let me know if you need any help. I live 30 miles for AV and could easily run up there if needed. I think it's a great idea.

I also like the "once a month" idea. I've been trying to get the gang at AV that I ski with to buy the http://www.skiingwisconsin.com COUPON BOOK and ski some other areas, but haven't been successful.

I had the COUPON BOOK a few years ago and it works well. From the 2005-2006 season webpage: "For only $69.95 ($79.95 after 12/15/05) you will receive a free lift ticket to each of the following ski resorts, no restrictions... Grand Geneva, Cascade Mountain, Christmas Mountain Village, Christie Mountain, Highlands of Olympia, Mt. LaCrosse, Nordic Mountain, Sunburst, Trollhaugen, Tyrol Basin, Whitecap Mountain and Wilmot Mountain. Plus a FREE Basic Ski/Snowboard Tune-Up at Mountain Bay in Appleton, WI."

I have never been to an Epic Gathering. What usually happens? Meet somewhere at a certain time?

Looking forward to seeing everyone at AV's Demo Day.

Hi MWskier, actually i was directing the invitation towards SLATZ also who is out of Madison Wi area. Hopefully he will see it as maybe other southern Wisconsin bears to join us.
I was at the gathering at Snowbasin this past season and everybody skied and ate and drank and had a good time. I did get lost in the fog and missed skiing with most of the group.

Ok, i dont want to thread hijack, but i am considering getting a season pass to AV has anyone gotten one? And how does it go? do you get benefits, is it worth it? this is hte first time ive gotten a season pass to a place. PM me please to keep this threde on track.

And. i offer my assistance to the organizers of this event. I know that the snowflake ski club goes up to AV alot, and it may be a very good idea to choose a day that they would not be there. They go up to various hill on saturdays.

Season passes are most definitely worth it. Less cash in the long run (assuming you ski 20+ days wherever you buy the pass), skip the ticket window, don't have to bother with cutting old passes off, get the extra bit of respect that comes from being a passholder- once you get one, you'll never want to go a season without one.

My question for this season is to get a season pass to Wilmot, which I have never skied but does have gate training and holds the CMSC races which I will probably be doing... or get an Alpine Valley pass.

I'm not sure if the extra half-hour each way to AV is worth it over Wilmot. The gate training alone might tip the scales in favor of Wilmot since I'd basically just be faking it at AV. I'd really like to get out and carve on two nights a week.

Anyone got some input on this?

This is also a dillema I am kind of having. But you may want to know htat AV will offer half price day passes if you show them a season pass from any other midwest resort. But even with this i thikn i still may be getting the AV pass, becuase it is a larger hill, and they have better park features.

I did not know that. Where did you find that info? If thats true it seals the deal for Wilmot for me.

Thanks!

I believe that they only do this in March.

You'll definately like Alpine Valley better. 100+ extra feet of vertical and a high speed lift. They do have Monday night (?) racing league.

I'd call them about that 1/2 price ticket deal with another season pass. They advertise it on their website.

I've skied Alpine Valley a lot, just never Wilmot. It's more a question of travel time on a weeknight. Since Wilmot is a half-hour closer each way, that extra hour of driving time might not be worth it unless Wilmot would be really booring.

Please let us all know regarding the 1/2 price deal. I saw it on their website as well.

I've got a pass at Cascade and AV is only 2 hours from my house vs 3. This would help out when I don't feel like traveling all the way to Cascade.

Tyrol has deals on passes before the 6th and a "Buddy" deal where a newbi joins with a passholder and they both pay a lot less.
Tyrol also has a Monday night race league that starts right after Christmas.
I haven't seen the race schedule yet so I don't know what my December weekends look like.

OK - where was the picture taken? It does not look like a southern Wisconsin/Chicago area resort.

The hill is wider than it is high so there are many snow guns to cover the area. Small as it is, I call it home in the winter

Today is my first visit to EpicSki in many months. I was pleased to find this thread. I'd also be interested in a Dec. get together at AV. It'd be great to meet some of the bears. I've already met Rick a number of times since he sold me and fit my boots. I highly recommend his services for anyone looking to dial in their boots. Hope to see Chicago area bears on line and possibly in person.

Right now it looks like USSA races on the 2nd (Brule) and 16th (Norway) of Dec. FIS at Nub's on the 22nd. Only that weekend of the 9th for me.
I'll be at Brule for Thanksgiving Camp.

If you buy your Wilmot pass by Sept. 15 or the Alpine Valley pass by Sept. 30 you get a discount.

If I were you I'd drive to each of them and take a look.

I drive the extra 25 minutes to Alpine. I did ski Wilmot late last season for the first time in a decade or so and now I know why I drive to Alpine.

Whatever you do, get a season pass - it can change your life.

This will excite all you fellow midwesterners. I'm sitting in a hotel in Portland OR and it is snowing big time at Timberline@ Mt. Hood. I was just there four days ago and no sign of snow. Boy does this get me excited!

I will have some info on the gathering at Alpine in December when I get back. I'm working on a real good deal on lift tickets for the day.

Think cold weather
