Bootfitter at Hood / Govy this summer?

I need some significant punching and grindage on a new pair of RT's. A while a go, I remember hearing something about PJ setting up a temporary shop this summer. Does anybody know about this or any other bootfitter that will be up there? Otherwise, I'll have to wait until fall and I don't want to do that.

Your best bet will probably be Bob Olsen. He is in Hood River and is a great race service boot guy. You can find his info by going to Racestocksports.com and following their staff links as he is in business with PJ. The Atomic guys may be set up to do more service work this summer as well in their demo center across from the Brew Pub. It is shaping up to be a great summer on the Hood.

Also check out Jeremy, or Scotty G (Jeremy's more of the race expert) at US Outdoor in downtown Portland. They were 2005 Gold award winners in bootfitting from Ski magazine. They have done all my bootwork this year and I've been very happy.

Maybe I'll see you on Mt. Hood this summer.

Bend is about 2 hours south of Hood and home to Skjersaa's. They do great bootfitting as well, probably the best ski shop for advanced skiers in the state. Also, I'm sure most of the employees working at each company's demo shop are proficient bootfitters, or they at least can point you in the right direction if you sweet talk them and bribe them with beer.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll ask around Government Camp and see what's available. I'll only have access to a car for a few days, so it's alot easier for me if I can get something done at Hood. Otherwise I'll drive out and check out one of the suggested places.

There is a good chance that Bob would come up to Gov'y, he might even have a set up there this summer. I'd give him a call.

Hey bennyr, what about that Brent Amsbury guy? Do you know if he will be at Hood? He did some work on my husbands boots and I was thinking I'd get mine worked on this summer when I am out there.

Brent is living in Houston, Texas right now. He may make it to Oregon but he isn't sure right now. As to why a great bootfitter is living in Texas he is married now and his wife is a doctor who is doing research at Baylor or one of those hospitals. He is going to be doing some work in Park City next winter and will probably do a road/bootfitting trip to Montana, South Dakota, and Minnesota. I highly recommend Brent and think that he is one of the best bootfitters out there. Bob Olson who I mentioned earlier in the thread would be a good person for your husband to work with at Hood.

PJ Dewey and Bob Olson will be located at the Summit Ski Area (between the rest area and the Chevron station) on or about the 15th of June, till at least the 1st of August. They will have a complete shop set-up and if you are in the area I would highly reccomend these guys.

Brent sold his shop in bellevue, WA & moved to Texas!

(this is true. I am not kdding!) He married a Dr. and she got a job in texas.

Sometimes, Jim mates comes down there. He owns Custom Boot Service in Seattle 206-297-9298. He does lots of racers boot work.

Thanks real999 will try this weekend. I've been doing a day of SL every weekend, picking the day with the best weather and scoring some real nice ones. This coming weekend looks like the weather is going to be good the whole time. I trained last Saturday in nice weather but the day before they closed the hill due to horizontal rain!

: So far been training over on the West Mile, havent' even been up Palmer yet. Brad put in a series of huge woops with the cat over there and they have been setting GS/SL with the turning pole at the peak of the wave making it interesting. There was a group yet to the west of us from Jackson Hole running GS with some fast skiing kids both guys and gals last Saturday but it isn't really crowded yet. Have a good camp when you get out here!

I stopped the truck there last weekend and looked for it but didn't see anything like a sign. Will check that area again this weekend. One of the guys in the Master's training group a few weeks ago gets his skis done by Bob down at the shop next to the Mt Hood Country Store and has been very happy with the work quality. Thanks

Open for biz

The shop opened Friday with Piper and PJ running things. Kids were swarming up from Guvy central to have their boots worked on. The signs are up outside and some great deals are to be had on skis.

There is a heat wave happening out here - after SL training Friday we headed down to the coast to get some cooler weather. 100 degrees in Portland and vicinity, 80 up at Timberline. The snowpack is going fast, hope we get a marine push soon to cool us back down!

Mt Hood

Hey,

Just a note to let anyone interested that we are open now at the Mt. Hood location. If you are going to camp for training this summer be sure to stop in an check out the shop located at the Summit Ski Area at the top of the Loop Rd. in Government Camp next to the Chevron.

We have some phenomenal deals on last year gear and of course have a full service boot machine shop set up ready to dial you. If you have not worked with us before come in and see whats happening. What we are offering is unique and your success and ours are directly related.

The hill is in great shape. Had some rain and now heat but the salted snow is in awesome condition and there is ample quality training opportunites. I will try to get some pictures up on our web page in the near future and will update periodically.

We can ship equipment from her to you if you see something you would like on the closeout list. Just got e-mail up and the phone service seems to be operational 802-578-3585.

Go see Steve Krause at Hillcrest Sports in Gresham, OR. He's very personable and the best boot fitter in the industry with the latest equipment.
