Binding DIN settings

Does anyone know of a reference site for DIN settings ? Also, are the settings binding specific or do they apply across all manufacturers and models ?

You will probably get a lot of conflicting information here. Technically DIN settings are the same across the board for all manufacturers. I am certain someone has an online reference for them, but if you are not sure about how to set them, you really should take you skis to a shop and have it done professionally.

As I said above - all manufacturers are supposed to be the same - but often they are not. I have found that with Look/Rossi bindings I only have to run around a 10 or 11 DIN to keep my skis on my feet, where as with Marker and Salomon I tend to run around an 11 or 12, sometimes up to 13 or 14 for racing. I don't have a lot of experience with Tyrolia, but my younger brother (much less aggressive than I am on skis) runs a 9 on his I think. I would not consider this to be a standard at all, but it is just my expereince with different manufacturers. If you are a normal skier I would use your recommended DIN unless you are pre-releasing, then step it up 1/2 a notch and try it out.

Beware though, because adjusting your bindings will also require accurrate knowledge of forward pressure, and where it is supposed to be for your particular bindings.

I have been to several stores to set the DIN setting and each recommend a different setting, from 7 to 9.5 ! As it is for a 13year old racer, I wanted to check it myself

The DIN chart does not apply to racing. It is merely a very rough starting point when applied to the race environment and then you tighten until you stay in your skis. Unfortunately trial & error from there. err on the side of higher DIN. racing puts demands on your bindings that you just don't subject them to freeskiing.
