Reviews of Dalbello Avanti Boots, PLEASE!

I have a chance to get a sweet deal on some Dalbello Avanti boots. Someone is selling store display boots. I don't know anything about them.

I went to the Dalbello website. There are three models:

the V-Tech has a flex index of 16-18 (?)
the V-11 has a flex index of 13-16, and
the V-9 has a flex index of 10-13.

I'm guessing that I should be looking at the 11 or 9. Any feedback would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Doug

I tried them on at one store and the fit was very good. I don't know how they ski though. I might be looking at the 7 or 9's for my wife for next year.

Just Bought Dalbello ZX Supersport

My shop had the Supersports for $248 and the Avanti 9 for $225. I bought the ZX on Thursday and skied them for the first time on Sunday on my 9-18s. Thumbs up! Much more support and control than my entry level Lange g-max 7s. There was a lot of new loose snow, soft moguls and chop. The new boots really helped my stay in "communication" with my skis. I was expecting some real pain after only wearing them for a few hours around the house but I only experienced normal discomfort (and I went down from a 28.5 shell in the Lange to a 27 in the Dalbello)

I'm an intermediate with aspirations of taking it to the next level with a very wide flat forefoot and narrow ankle (I meant to write heel here I have a thick ankle and calf). The ZX has a wide forefoot low instep and narrow heel. A good match. I suggest you try on a bunch of boots and match your foot shape well. I'm not sure the Lange was a good match in retrospect.

The ZX is supposed to be their free ride boot from what I could see on the Dalbello site. Word has it from this site (epicski) and some other ski discussion sites I visit, that Dalbello provides a lot of value for the $$.

Overall I'm feeling very good about this purchase and I'm taking them on west coast trip to Tahoe next weekend (I'm leaving the 9-18s at home though.

Good luck with your new boots.

I skied the Dalbello Avanti V Pro for two years which I believe was their top boot the year. I believe the AVANTI 12 was the next season's V PRO. The V Pro's were transparent red. You get a lot of boot for your money with Dalbello. The boot is pretty voluminous however. I shimmed under my liner after the first couple months of skiing them. I have skinny ankles as well, and the cuff on the boot is pretty wide. I installed a Booster Strap to help with the boot cuff.

A really good feature of the Dalbello boots is the ankle hold down as a result of the way the second buckle is designed. They are also extremely easy to put on and take off due to the tabs on the forefoot. I agree that the instep on the boot is a little low.

I always skied in a 27 shell to do over again I would have tried the Dalbellos in a 26 and determined if they fit better. They will pack out .

If you think your size is a 27 let me know. I got a pair of Atomic boots this past January and to be quite honest the Dalbellos are every bit as good.

You lost me there.

I've got a pair of X-Wave 8.0s listed FS right now. I ordered the 27.0 but found I couldn't wear it. They are brand spanking new!

On the sizing of the Dalbellos I was implying that because the boot is a larger volume boot it maybe possible to downsize a size from your current boot.

I bought the Atomic boot in a 26 , having always skied in a 27 shell which was the size of the Dalbellos . It fits very close but fits without pinching I think because it has a generous toe box width. The Dalbello boot is built on a wider last than most of the higher end racing boots. As a result, you maybe able to go down a size and get a closer fit. Even if you don't the heel hold down is superb in the Dalbello and you shouldn't have much if any slop in the heel .
