Terms of Service

Welcome to EpicSki, the online home for dedicated skiers, and the leading Internet resource for ski information and community discussion. Members agree to abide by the following Terms of Service.  Please also refer to our Posting Guidelines which clarify how these terms are applied by site administrators.

By registering, you will be able to post and reply to messages on all the public forums, wikis, product and resort reviews, and much more if you so choose. Members also can opt to subscribe to threads, wikis, or other members, and to receive an automated e-mail notification when someone replies to your postings. You can send/receive Private Messages to/from other members of this forum without disclosing your personal e-mail address. You have the ability to upload an avatar to your profile to appear with your username on all your contributions to the various forums, wikis, and reviews. This is your space on the web for all things skiing related.

We reserve the right to disapprove of Avatars used by members. We will not allow images that are not suitable for a family audience or in the workplace or that we, at our sole discretion, determine do not reflect positively on the image of EpicSki.com.

We reserve the right to delete posts and links, and, at our discretion, to prohibit or condition promotional offers or events, when they violate these terms, conflict with the business interests of Epicski or its partners, or create a spamming nuisance as discussed below.  In general we will not allow Epicski to be used to post surveys without prior approval.  EpicSki does not allow surveys to be posted or linked without prior permission from the administration.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this website to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, hateful, obscene, profane, harassing, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violates any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by EpicSki.

Please remember that we cannot constantly monitor the contents of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the authors, not necessarily the views of EpicSki or any entity associated with EpicSki. By registering and posting here, each member agrees to accept 100% responsibility and ownership of what he/she posts.

Also be aware that the contents of your posts will be publicly available on the internet. Therefore, you should not post phone numbers or other personal information unless you want it to be publicly available on the internet.

Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact EpicSki immediately by using the "Post Report Flag" feature found at the bottom of each post. We reserve the right to edit or delete any post we determine to be in violation of these rules. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold EpicSki and its personnel harmless with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your or others' messages. We reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of legal action arising from any message posted by you.

Do not register multiple posting accounts in order to gain an advantage in a debate or dispute. EpicSki will not tolerate "sock puppets".  This offense will result in a ban at the IP level. If you lose your password or have other issues, use the Contact Us form to request assistance.

Barring legal action, we do not reveal your e-mail address or IP number to anyone, ever.

EpicSki Commercial Use Policy

EpicSki is among the largest of the Internet ski communities. As a result, it is a great place to advertise and connect with others who love skiing. However, there is a line that can be crossed by commercial posts of any kind (for example, offers of free services, for-pay services, products, samples, and the like).

Posts or links designed to generate revenue from any skiing related activity—the sale of merchandise, offering of instruction, travel promotion, etc., are treated as affiliate relationships and we will negotiate them case-by-case. This policy applies to ‘free’ offers and promotional activities, as well as direct commercial overtures or transactional links.  The site managers, who may be contacted with our comments form, must approve any such offer, promotion or link to another web site, whether it is in a post or in an article (wiki), made by a person offering the product or service. This applies to all forums, articles and reviews.

So, if you are attempting to build a snow sports related business, grow your book of business as an instructor, or promote a travel or adventure activity, please contact us. We want to help you succeed and help the EpicSki community discover you!  Members of the Sponsors group are welcome to make posts including product information or links to their business websites, when it is relevant to the thread topic or in any thread posted in the marketplace forum and specifically in "Special Deals for Epicski Members." It is an abuse of sponsorship privileges to essentially spam our membership and clutter the forums by adding to active threads, posts or links that promote sponsor businesses without adding relevant content of value to the thread or conversation. Posting promotional interests without regard to the member's right to uncluttered content is annoying to EpicSki members and diminishes the important contributions that our Sponsors add to this site. A Sponsor who violates these terms will be warned of complaints, and repeated abuse may result in forfeiting membership in this community. If you have questions about this policy, please ask us.

EpicSki Privacy Statement

EpicSki has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. We'll cut to the chase: EpicSki does not share personal e-mail addresses or IP numbers with third parties at all (barring legal action) - period! For more details, read on…

Information Automatically Logged
Like all websites, your IP number (internet connection id) is automatically logged when you visit EpicSki. We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our servers, and to evaluate site traffic levels (this evaluation does not identify you personally, just the aggregate number of unique users). IP address logging also enables the banning of individual users from the website when a member consistently and severely violate the terms and conditions to which each member agreed when he/she registered.

Cookies
The EpicSki forums uses cookies to save your password so you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit the site and to "remember" which posts are new since your last visit, in order to enhance your experience at EpicSki. If you would like to opt-out of Non Personally Identifiable
Information (PII) cookie tracking, please visit the NAI opt-out page here: http://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/

E-Mail Address Collection & Use
The EpicSki forum's registration form requires members to provide their e-mail address. This e-maill address is used for administrative communication exclusively between EpicSki and and that member -- many of these correspondences are automated features (notification of a reply to your post or notification of a new private message) that you may disable in the "My Profile" control panel. E-mail address collection also allows EpicSki administrators to notify members in the event of issues with their EpicSki user account.

Other Info Collection & Use
Other required information (e.g., username), and additional optional information (e.g., location, etc...), is collected in the registration form and is available for all users to access from a link above each post you make. The purpose of this information is so that readers of the forum will get a better understanding of the people with whom they are communicating in the forum. This does not apply to personal contact information or any information that you do not voluntarily provide yourself.

We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our Web site. These companies may use aggregated information (not including your name, address, email address or telephone number) about your visits to this and other Web sites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, please see: http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp

External Links
This website contains links to other websites, many of which are posted by members and not by the EpicSki administrators. EpicSki is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites. None of the information you provide on the registration form is transferred to them.

Special Relationships
EpicSki is not affiliated with any ski manufacturers, ski resorts, professional associations, or other organizations. EpicSki is an independent operation.

Public Forums
EpicSki makes forums/message-boards/news-groups available to a large community of independent users. Please remember that any information you disclose in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to share any of your personal information. We suggest using our private messaging feature should you desire to contact others (this allows contact without disclosing personal information).

When you post personal contact or identification material in one of EpicSki's public arenas (and all of EpicSki's forums are public), you are choosing to make that information public and EpicSki bears no responsibility for any undesired outcomes or uses of that information by others, including other registered members of EpicSki.

EpicSki has no control over the behavior of registered members of its forums, other than banning them from further posting if they prove to be destructive to the community. None of the members of this community are employees or in any way associated with EpicSki; everyone in these forums found the website on their own in and registered on their own in order to interact with other unaffiliated (unaffiliated with EpicSki) individuals. Hence the term "public" forum.

With the sole exception of EpicSki Academy(TM), EpicSki does not organize, plan, endorse, or control in any way, gatherings, get-togethers, meetings or other activities of its members. Any gatherings, get-togethers, or offers for instruction or coaching by EpicSki members or others are at the sole discretion and risk of the participants. As a social networking site, the presence or discussion of such activities on the EpicSki forums does not constitute control, endorsement, or ownership in any activity off the internet.

Advertising Content
EpicSki accepts ads created and produced by unaffiliated organizations that are delivered from off-site servers.  It is our objective to include advertising relevant to our users, however these ads are not previewed or screened, and may not necessarily reflect the views or policies of EpicSki, its owners, moderators or members.

If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with Personal Information without their consent, he or she should contact us via our feedback form.
